Rossholme Country House
House | 9 bedrooms | sleeps 21
Rossholme Country House is the Tudor part of the beautiful former vicarage which has been renovated whilst retaining original character, to provide spacious holiday accommodation close to the coastal regions of West Somerset.. Approached by its own tree lined drive, Rossholme is situated within 5 acres of lawns and landscaped grounds. A function room seating 60 is available on site by prior arrangement with the owner, and catering can be arranged. Surrounded by open countryside on the edge of the picturesque village of East Brent, the property is rural but not isolated; it is in a sheltered position, right in the lee of Brent Knoll, a 450ft high hill that has the remains of an ancient Celtic camp on its summit with views of the Quantocks, Bridgwater Bay, the Bristol Channel, the Mendips and South Wales. With easy access to the M5, and Bristol International Airport, the village is only minutes from the coast; Weston-Super-Mare and Sand Bay have sandy beaches and family attractions, whilst the smaller resorts of Clevedon and Burnham on Sea retain an atmosphere of a bygone era. Axbridge is 5 miles, the caves and gorge at Cheddar, 6 miles, Wookey Hole and the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace at Wells, 16 miles. For walking and cycling, the Quantocks, the Mendips, the Somerset Levels and Exmoor are close by and there are several excellent golf courses in the area.
With plenty of private parking, there is a large lawn, garden furniture and barbecue area for the exclusive use of Rossholme Country House guests and the outdoor heated (at cost) swimming pool (during the summer) and hard tennis court shared with the owners and with guests in The Gatehouse at Rossholme. The West Country region
Somerset lies to the south of the City of Bristol in the South West of England; it has an extensive coast line and includes a wide variety of scenery including the Mendip Hills, the Quantocks and the Somerset levels. Pilton is the home of the world famous Glastonbury Festival and Bridgwater is the home of Carnival in Britain and takes place during November. Yeovilton has the Fleet Air Arm Museum and in the same area, is the Haynes Motor Museum. The region is well renowned for its production of cider and Somerset Brandy. The Shepton Mallett Showground is the site of the Bath & West show in May/June and the whole area offers a wealth of interesting places.
This is an historic area, close to several battlefields, including Sedgemoor, the site of the last battle on English soil. Wells, the smallest city in England has a beautiful cathedral and Bishop's Palace and there is a wealth of charming villages. Cheddar Gorge and caves as well as those at Wookey Hole add a dimension to visits. The sea is close by with the seaside resorts of Burnham on Sea, Clevedon and Weston super Mare as well as lovely beaches at Brean, Uphill and Sand Bay. The new pier at Weston super Mare is well worth visiting.
There is plenty to do in the area including excellent golf courses, animal parks, water parks as well as bird watching on the Somerset levels, walks, cycling, vineyards and so much more.
