The East Anglia / Norfolk region
The North Norfolk coast is a mixture of pretty villages and untamed scenery under the wonderful East Anglian skies. From the wide beaches of Holkham Bay in the west to the clean sands of Sea Palling in the east, about 3/4 of North Norfolk's coast is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Burnham Market area
Flintstone cottage is located in the heart of Burnham Market, just tucked away off the main street to ensure peace and quiet during your stay. Burnham Market is a gorgeous village which you can explore on foot from the cottage. Full of wonderful Georgian houses, an impressive church, a great fishmonger, baker, butcher, art galleries and tempting gift and clothes shops. It is easy to understand why this is one of the most sought after villages in England
The Hoste Arms in Burnham Market is rightly famous for its restaurant and hotel facilities, and a visit here during your stay is highly recommended. There are also many good pubs and restaurants within easy reach.
The North Norfolk Coast is famous for its wonderful beaches and wide East Anglican skies. From the vast expanse of Holkham Bay in the west to the pristine sands of Sea Palling in the east, three quarters of North Norfolk’s 43 miles of coastline is designated as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The main coastal towns of Hunstanton and Wells-Next-the-Sea are close by and here you can enjoy sailing, bird watching, riding, or just swim and enjoy the beaches. For walkers the North Norfolk countryside has a year-round beauty, with wonderful nature reserves, majestic stately homes and picture postcard towns and villages just waiting to be explored.
A visit to this part of Norfolk would not be complete without a day out to visit Sandringham and other stately homes of Houghton Hall and Holkham. For railway enthusiasts the famous North Norfolk Railway is situated on the edge of Sheringham and offers trips through some of the best scenery in East Anglia to Kelling Heath and the fashionable Georgian town of Holt.
A short drive away is Blakeney village which has the largest coastal nature reserve in England and Wales. This includes Blakeney Point which is a National Trust owned sand spit and is home to colonies of seals. The best way to travel through this area is by using the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway, which has the longest 10 1/2 inch narrow gauge line in the world. This runs from Wells to the holy village of Walsingham, where pilgrims come to this day to worship at the Roman Catholic and Anglican shrines.
