Home description
Ducktails provides a relaxing home for both short breaks and longer holidays. The cottage was converted from an old forge and many of the original features have been retained, adding to its character. It is the middle of three cottages and has a pretty stream running in front of it, with a bridge for access. Ducktails has a lovely beamed sitting room with an Inglenook fireplace. This contains a woodburning stove, which makes it lovely and cosy in the winter. Plenty of logs are provided. There are also electric storage heaters both upstairs and downstairs.
Used by us as our own holiday and weekend cottage, Ducktails is furnished to a high standard and very well equipped. Everything in the cottage is new and the reclaimed pine furniture was made specially by a local craftsman. The whole cottage has been redecorated and recarpeted throughout. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare both cordon bleu meals and barbecues. It also has a full sized dishwasher. The bathroom, which is downstairs, has a wide bath with a shower above it. It also has a heater for those cold winter days.
The two bedrooms are upstairs. The master bedroom has a double bed, large chest of drawers, wardrobe cupboard and bedside table. The twin bedroom has two single beds, a chest of drawers and bedside table.
To the rear of the cottage there is a fully enclosed garden. It has a lawned area as well as a patio. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. The garden is very sheltered, totally private and a real sun trap.It provides a safe, child friendly environment as well as being secure for your dog.

Guestbook for Ducktails
"Here we are back to normal life again - and work - after a lovely relaxing holiday at your beautiful cottage. We really enjoyed our week there and so did Gretel, my spaniel. The weather was great and we had some lovely picnics at Sandringham, Holkham Hall and Blakeney. Your cottage is lovely and so is the way it is furnished. Once again thanks for a most enjoyable, relaxing holiday." - Margaret and Esme, June 2009
"We needed a much needed break from London & luckily happened upon Ducktails in our search for a cottage. Ducktails is simply delightful, very comfortable and we even put the BBQ to good use. We enjoyed the ducks andthe cute ducklings in the mornings and evenings - we even ate breakfast on the bridge! All in all a wonderful weekend. We are sorry it is already over." - The Phillips family, June 2009
"Great stay in this comfortable cottage that had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, spotlessly clean too.We were regularly visited by the female Mallard and her 11 ducklings. It's our last day today and we'll be sorry to leave." - Helen and John, May 2009
"The property was a lovely cottage, very clean, business owners very organised and friendly. Comfortable living room furniture. Would recommend to friends and family. Kitchen had all needed and living room very cosy including log fire which was very warm and cosy. River outside door very relaxing which included ducks and their babies wondering around to see you every couple of hours ending around 8.00 pm when they retired up the road away from the houses. My dog was mesmorised watcing the birds from the window opposite the outside river. Quiet pub only few yards up the road, for food and socialising. Children playground, swings, seasaw, hedgehog and large playing field, especially for dogs 5 mins up road. Back garden spacious and beautiful colourful flowers. Been totally honest." - Alison and family, May 2009
"Very relaxing week. The cottage and surroundingareas delightful." - Jo and John, April 2009
"Had a lovely, relaxing week & been lucky with the weather. Cottage perfect for us and our Westies who have loved the walks on Brancaster beach. Hope we can come back again sometime." - Colleen and Steve, March 2009
"How lucky are we - one, we discovered this cottage; two, the weather has been amazing (dry and sunny). Loved the cottage, ideal situation for exploring North Norfolk.Long walks in the daytime at Holkham, Wells, Brancaster, Moreston. Cosy evenings in.We all enjoyed this break." - Steve, Shirley and Floyd, the Springer, October 2008
"Small cosy cottage ideal for exploring the North Norfolk coastline. Have enjoyed 2 weeks of good weather." - Dean family, July/August 2008
"A well equipped, cosy cottage, ideal for our Retriever dogs with an enclosed garden. We had a perfect week. The weather was hot.A great location." - John and Wendy, July 2008
"A lovely stay. What a beautiful cottage! We so enjoyed the ducks' regular jaunt past the window every morning." - Angie and Alan, June 2008
"Very cosy cottage - the log burner was fantastic as weather very cold. Despite poor weather we all got around and about. Great beaches nearby. Thanks very much - a very relaxing week." - John, Dottie and the boys, April 2008
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lovely cottage. I was keen to find somewhere cosy and homely so that we could simply curl up and read a book if we wanted. The log fire clinched it and we loved it. The cottage is so well equipped and well appointed. We did go out every day and really like north Norfolk(particularly the coastal reserves and The Wash) but had some bitterly cold weather. Despite this we were very warm in the cottage and it was a pleasure feeding the ducks outside and listening to the owls at night! The week gave us a complete rest. So many thanks - we have vowed to come back." - Sandy, April 2008
