Hollyhock Cottage is a delightful, characterful cottage in the Cotswolds' medieval market town of Burford. Hollyhock Cottage has been sensitively restored and modernised to provide a really lovely place to stay.

You enter straight into a lovely kitchen dining room with enormous inglenook fireplace at one end. The AGA keeps the cottage toasty, as well as underfloor heating to gently warm the original stone flags. The kitchen's preparation area is neatly fitted into a corner, while a lovely table is the centre piece.

The sitting room, through an open archway has another large open fireplace, comfortable sofa and chairs plus discreat television with Sky+ HD service.

Outside, just a few steps from the front door, is a utility room, which houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, coat and boot storage. There is a loo here too and a useful Belfast sink.

Upstairs

Stairs lead out of the sitting room into Bedroom 1, which is a surprisingly large room. Windows on three sides allow the light to flood in to this lovely room, which is furnished with a king sized bed on a traditional iron bed frame.

Stairs lead out of the kitchen into Bedroom 2, which like the rest of the cottage, retains many original features including exposed beams and small fireplace. A magnificent antique pine king sized bed is a dreamy centrepiece to this room.

The bathroom is in the centre and accessed by both bedrooms from either side. There is a double ended roll top bath and authentic period styled sanitary ware by Thomas Crapper.

Outside there is a gravelled area that has a log store to fuel the cottage's roaring fires. A teak table and chairs set is put out in warmer months. The cottage has a surprisingly large garden which stretches down to the river.

Conveniently located on a quiet side road off Burford's thriving high street, Hollyhock Cottage is ideally placed for visitors to park up the car and venture out on foot to discover the gateway to the Cotswolds.
