The Donegal region

The Inis Eoghan penninsula is in the north of Ireland and boasts the most northern part of the island, Malin Head. The penninsula is bounded by Lough Swilly on the West and Lough Foyle on the East. Donegal is known for its beautiful scenery, golf-courses, fishing and hiking. The Donegal people are welcoming and friendly.

Buncrana area

In Buncrana, there are many shops, restaurants as as it is on Logh Swilly, there are safe beach walks. By the beach is a European funded play ground, and a leisure centre with a pool and gym. Derry City is 30 minutes from our home and is a walled city with a long and treasured history. The are many visitor attractions and facilities in Derry. From our home near Buncrana, it is possible to take day trips to Glenveagh National Park, and the gaeltacht area of Co. Donegal to the west, or the Giant's Causeway and other famous attrtactions to the east. Malin Head is an hours scenic drive from our home and is the most northern point on the island of Ireland.

Further details indoors:
The house is a dormer bungalow. Upstairs, there is a master bedroom with an en suite and another bedroom that sleeps 3 and has fabulous views. Also upstairs, there is a sitting room with a sleep sofa, arm chairs and gas fire. Both the master bedroom and the upstairs sitting room open onto a large balcony that has uninterrupted views of Lough Swilly and the Fanad penninsula from Buncrana to Rathmullan and on to Portsalon. Downstairs there is a large sun-room with sofas and arm chairs, a sitting room with the TV, DVD player and stereo, and a large kitchen with all mod-cons. We have a clip-on baby seat that fits the two dining tables and is suitable for a 6 to 18 month old child, and a booster seat that is tied to a regular chair and is suitable for a small child 18months and over. Also downstairs there is a utility room, 2 bedrooms (one with bunk beds and a single bed, one with a double bed) and a bathroom. The property is completed fenced, thus making it safe for children. Outside there is a garage, 2 large lawns, an enclosed tennis'basketball court (also great for small children on bikes/trikes/scooters etc.), and a patio area with outdoor dining furniture.

Further details outdoors:
Nearby facilities include a leisure centre with swimming pool and gym, an excellent play-ground, beach, shops, restaurants, cinema and golf courses in Buncrana, and restaurants, beaches, and golf-courses in Ballyliffen. On the way to Ballyliffen, you will drive by the Mamore Gap, a truly beautiful and historic area. Within walking distance of the house (20 mins average) are the Dunree Museum and Fort, Dunree beach and The Laurentic restaurant and bar. As the house is in a rural community, the setting is spectacular, with mountains to the front of the property and Lough Swilly to the rear. For those interested in being outdoors, there are many walks of different lengths from a circuit of about 45 minutes upwards. There are also many cycle routes, including the famous Inis Eoghan 100 for the more athletic person, but it's a beautiful drive if you don't think you can cycle 100miles, and would rather travel by car.

Further details

This large, dormer-bungalow is in a beautiful rural setting, 7km from Buncrana and 15km from Ballyliffen, which is famous for its beaches, golf course and famine village/lapland Christmas event in Doagh Island. The Clonmany (7km) and Buncrana (7km) Festivals are held on 2 different weeks each summer. There is a ferry link between Buncrana and Rathmullan on the Fanad penninsula so Portsalon and other scenic areas on the penninsula are even more accessible.
