The Powys / Brecon Beacons / Powys region
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. Snowdonia National Park, situated in North Wales, boasts breathtaking mountain scenery, crystal clear lakes and cascading waterfalls. Climb Snowdon, which at 1085m is Wales’ highest mountain, or travel to the summit in style on the charming Mountain Railway. Alternatively, why not sample the beautiful green valley of Llangollen by steam train or from a leisurely horse-drawn canal boat.
In July, the annual Llangollen Eisteddfod transforms the town into a unique centre of international music and dance, attracting musicians and singers from across the globe. You could also explore the beautiful coastline, safe sandy beaches and watersports of the Lleyn Peninsula, as well as Colwyn Bay, historic Conwy, Victorian Llandudno or the Isle of Anglesey on the north coast. To the south, there’s the lovely Brecon Beacons National Park, a haven of rugged moorland, forests and mountains that’s just perfect for nature lovers and walkers.
Finally, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is renowned for its wildlife, stunning coastal scenery, superb beaches and as the home of Britain’s smallest city, the City of St David’s.
Builth Wells area
Peacefully situated amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside, the rural village of Llanfan Fawr is home to an old church and Powys' oldest pub, The Red Lion, which serves fine, traditional fare. Set in the slopes of the Llanafan Valley and within easy distance of the equally beautiful Wye Valley, the surrounding countryside is renowned for its walking and mountain biking opportunities, though it also provides an excellent backdrop for fishing and bird-watching along the Wye and Irfon rivers.
Builth Wells is also within easy driving distance and this picturesque market town provides a variety of interesting crafts stores and many collectors' fairs. The annual Royal Welsh Show is hosted in the town every July and is a colourful, fascinating fete. The Brecon Beacons National Park and the spectacular Black Mountains are easy to reach from the area, making this an ideal place for people looking to enjoy the outdoor life or simply relax against this stunning backdrop.

Guestbook for 2186
"An all round superb place to spend a holiday. Friendly helpful owners and the decking area is great in warm weather!" -Mr Richards, Worthing, West Sussex March 2009
"Friendly reception. Close proximity of numerous days/walks/cycles out. Cracking food in local pub - including exciting Halloween evening walk to pub!" -Mr Wojcik, Bracknell, Berkshire October 2008
"We were personally welcomed and shown around. The welcome pack of bread, milk, juice and butter,( with tea and coffee available if necessary) was a great help as this property was extremely rural. It was an ideal position to explore both North and South, with both being within an easy drive. It was lovely to have the use of such a good kitchen and facilities, home from home." -Mrs Evans, Littlehampton, West Sussex August 2008
"Friendly people, lovely accommodation, beautiful views from the cottage. Marvellous landscapes and interesting places to go." -Mrs Bradshaw, Northampton, Northamptonshire July 2008
