Set in the heart of the beautiful Wye Valley 'Y Berllan Deg' is a 5 star, 140 year old cottage, full of tradition and character. It has a large enclosed garden area that was formerly an orchard. It offers direct access to walking trails and salmon fishing from the cottage and has a great local pub.

This self catering cottage has the best of both worlds – tucked away in a lovely peaceful spot whilst also boasting a great location, with easy access to the main routes. A perfect location to enjoy the many activities and attractions this area of Wales has to offer.

Downstairs

The lounge includes a traditional log burner and 2 large comfy sofas, TV with Freesat, DVD, video and Hifi system. A large selection of walking books, local maps, tourist information , films, books and games.

Kitchen diner with seating for 4, an electric cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, portable TV, auto washer, dishwasher, iron and ironing board, good quality crockery, glasses and kitchenware.

Upstairs

1 double bedroom with large French antique King size bed and a large en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath.

1 double bedroom with King size bed (or can be made into twin beds) and has an en-suite shower room with an eight jet spa shower cubicle.

Garden

Enclosed, pet-friendly garden with apple trees, table and chairs and a sun chair perfectly situated to enjoy a drop of tea or even a glass of wine as the sun sets over the rolling hills.

The Powys/Brecon Beacons region

Y Berllan Deg is a semi-detached cottage that adjoins the old Parish Vicarage. It is within walking distance to the local pub and general stores in the village on Newbridge on Wye. Builth Wells the home of the Royal Welsh and Winter Fair is 5 miles away whilst the Spa town of Llandrindod Wells is only 5 miles to the East. The A470 offers convenient access to Cardiff and the rest of South Wales, whilst the location is also easily accessible from Hereford, Worcester and the Midlands.

The Wye Valley Walk passes directly next to the cottage and is a stunning walk that in total runs 136 miles following the source of the river down to the sea. There are many other walks nearby to suit all levels including many treks and trails in the Elan Valley. Bird watching is also very popular in the area with red kites overhead and even kingfishers can be seen swooping across the river. For families there is the 'Quackers' indoor play centre nearby and swimming pool and leisure centre in Rhayader, some 8 miles away.

Builth Wells

Golf

Both Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells Golf Club are great courses and suit all levels. 5 miles.

Bird Watching

This is red kite country and you can view these magnificent birds at the Red Kite Feeding Centre in Rhayader. 5 miles.

Horse Riding

Ideal terrain for riding and trekking with many different routes in the Elan Valley and surrounding countryside. 5 miles

Walking

The Wye Valley Walk is only yards from the Cottage. Many other walks nearby and in the Elan Valley and Brecon Beacons. 0.01 miles

Cycling

National Cycle Route 8 runs through the village and there are many great country lanes to enjoy. 0.1 miles.

Mountain Biking trails to suit all levels and distances including 2 of the best downhill MTB trails in the UK at The Rhayader Round. 6 miles.

Fishing

Day tickets available from local club for salmon, sewin (sea –trout) and wild brown trout fishing on the majestic River Wye. The river is only a cast away from the cottage 0.01 miles.

Water Sports

Kayaking and canoeing available on the River Wye. Boating, canoeing and other water sports available in the Elan Valley. 6 miles.

Be part of this exciting summer event at The Showground at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells. A real family event!

Other major events at the Showground include the 'Winter Fair' and the 'Small Holders & Garden Festival'.
