The Powys/Brecon Beacons region
Mid Wales has something for everyone with its stunning mountains, rolling countryside, coastline and of course - its luxury holiday cottages. Mid Wales and Brecon Beacons holiday cottages offer a great central base to relax or to explore an amazing range of unique attractions, market towns and castles; outdoor, indoor and even underground adventures.
From Brecon Beacons National Park in the south to the Snowdonia National Park border in the north, and from the west coast to Offa's Dyke on the Welsh/English border, Mid Wales is the largest and probably most diverse region in Wales. The holiday cottages Mid Wales has to offer are as diverse as the region itself but they have one thing in common - a 4* or 5* grading that guarantees a luxury holiday.
Cycle the forest trails, ride the rapids at a watersports centre, wander along gentle countryside walks, around lakes & reservoirs or conquer the peaks of Cadair Idris & Pen y Fan. At our Mid Wales and Brecon Beacons holiday cottages you also have the chance to try something completely different, from archery to quad biking, to underground adventures at King Arthur's Labrinth or Dan-yr-Ogof National Showcaves.
This holiday cottage is set on a scenic 60 acre farm, a short walking distance from the local pub and train station in Cilmery and 2 miles from Builth Wells. Very close to this cottage with a hot tub, Wales' last native Prince of direct descent, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, was slain in a skirmish by soldiers in the service of Edward I of England, on 11 December 1282. A memorial stone to Llywelyn ap Gruffudd was erected on the site in 1956 and serves as the focal point for the annual remembrance day.
The cottage is situated close to the Royal Welsh Showground, the Elan Valley Dams and an excellent 18 hole golf course. Many other activities are catered for locally including canoeing and fishing on the River Wye, mountain biking, horse riding and walking in the Brecon Beacons. There are also numerous good eating places in the vicinity serving local produce.
Builth Wells Golf Club presents a fair challenge to golfers of all levels. It is attractively laid out in splendid surroundings and is a comfortable walk. 2 miles
There are many interesting bridal paths in the vicinity. There will also be stables on site in the near future, enabling guests to bring their own horses.
Walking & Cycling
This area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists with routes such as the Wye Valley Walk (2 miles), Epynt Way (5 miles), Brecon Beacons National Park (16 miles south) and the Elan Valley (16 miles north).
The river Wye (2 miles) is popular as a navigable river with canoeists. Llangorse Lake, Pontsticill Reservoir (Merthyr Tydfil Sailing Club), the river Usk and the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal also offer opportunities for water sport.
River Wye - the 5th longest river in Britain offers plenty of fishing opportunities. 2 miles.
Major Events in the area include:
Royal Welsh Show
The Royal Welsh Show is one of the most prestigious events of its type in Europe, and will once again be bringing together the farming industry and rural community in a celebration of the best of British Agriculture with a unique and very special 'Welsh' flavour. Be part of this exciting summer event at The Showground at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells. A real family event!
Other major events at the Showground include the 'Winter Fair' and the Spring Festival.
The Guardian Hay Festival
The Hay Festival is an international festival that celebrates great writing in every medium in Britain and around the world.
Brecon Jazz Festival
For one August weekend a year, the streets of Brecon are alive with the sound of music as this small market town plays host to its annual jazz festival.

"Fab weekend for all the family!"
FAB FAB FAB.... Lovely clean cottage with plenty of room for a large family. Hot Tub very nice, even the children had a turn. Breathtaking views of the open sky in the night from the Hot Tub!
Only little issue was that there was no phone signal in or around the cottage!
