The Central Argentina / Buenos Aires Province region
Buenos Aires is a very cosmopolitan city, with approximately twelve million inhabitants including its metropolitan area. The different styles of its architecture and the diversity of its districts reflect times of splendour, cultural influences and migratory waves. The city is known as the birth place of tango, a music that has to be felt in order to be danced. Buenos Aires has a very active nightlife with many bars, discotheques and nightclubs. Its restaurants offer very good and tasty food, specially beef and first class wines.
There are many cultural activities taking place in its various museums, innumerable art galleries, exhibition centres and cinemas. And very good shopping can be done in its elegant boutiques and modern shopping centres.
Buenos Aires / Puerto Madero area
Puerto Madero is the youngest and most opulent area of Buenos Aires. The old river port has been recycled and the historic red brick warehouses have been converted to exclusive loft style offices, and high quality restaurants. An extraordinary booming construction and development is under way on the eastern side of the docks. Residential areas, luxury apartment towers, five stars hotels, corporate offices, shopping malls and cultural centres are some of the projects of foreign and real estate investments. This neighborhood has new, quiet streets, little traffic, plenty of parking space and green areas and is the safest of the city. To the east of Puerto Madero is the vast marshy Ecological Reserve, the best place in Buenos Aires to bird watch, hike or jog. To the west of Puerto Madero is the Microcentro with its museums, historic government buildings and convenient access via public transportation to all other areas of Buenos Aires.
