This Buenos Aires holiday apartment is situated in Congreso, the seat of the Argentina's government.
The grand entrance to El Congreso is the Avenida Mayo, a tree-lined boulevard that leads all the way to the governmental buildings, El Congreso de la Nacion. The avenue is an architectural treasure trove, with fanciful baroque and French art styles sitting side by side. You may need to take a break at Cafe Tortini (number 825), an old haunt of the city's most famous literary figures, including Borges, just one of the dozens of Italian-style cafes along the avenida.
Congreso itself is monumental and imposing, with many elegant three-story houses amongst the governmental buildings. The most beautiful are El Palacio de los Congresos and the Casa Rosada, or the parliament and presidential palace.
