This stunning, detached villa is set in a superb location within a short 5 minute walk to the sandy Cabanhas Velhas beach. With modern fixtures and fittings, as well as the essential 'home from home' feel, you can easily settle in to your relaxing holiday.

Situated one mile west of the small fishing village of Burgau and one mile east of the picturesque village of Salema the beautiful villa is an easy 1 hour drive from Faro airport. The villa boasts a great south facing, quiet position with sea views toward Cabanhas beach, Salema and Sagres in the far distance. Its position also ensures sunshine all day and with its own private, heated pool, hot tub and immaculately maintained gated grass garden there are plenty of places to relax. A covered terrace also provides a good amount of shade - essential for families with young children.

This villa is ideal for a large family or for two families sharing as it has a huge amount of space. The four bedrooms, all with en suites, are split over three levels and there is a fully-fitted kitchen with open plan living/sitting area. All levels have superb sunny terraces overlooking the pool and out to sea. The villa has air conditioning throughout and a WiFi connection is provided for your use. A cot and high chair are also stored in the villa for your use - additional high chairs and travel cots are provided at an extra cost.

The Algarve region

The West Algarve

As you travel across the Western Algarve, you will pass through an area of unchanged traditions, brought together with the latest modern conveniences and exciting holiday attractions. The range of choices includes famous regional delicacies such as figs, almonds, carobs and a very special brandy.

Only a step away from the restful inland area is the excitement of the Western Algarve night-life and the most beautiful beaches in Europe. During the daytime you can enjoy fanciful shadows of the rocky coastline casted on the sand and as soon as the night comes revel in the merrymaking of bars, discos, marinas and casinos.

The region's built heritage reveals particular memories of the ancestors of the Western Algarve, making it a special cultural place to visit. If you are looking for an active holiday time, the Western Algarve offers a range of outdoor sports from golfing on the green courses to physical exercise at the region's excellent facilities.

Weather and Climate:

The region enjoys an average of over 8 hours of sunshine per day, or 3,000 hours of sunshine annually. The period from the end of May until mid-September is dry, with only 6% of the annual rainfall occurring during that period. Most of the rainfall occurs between November and February. The annual rainfall averages 515 mm with a mean annual temperature of 17.9ºC.

The temperature of the Atlantic water is fairly constant, typically varying between 14 to 18 degrees Celsius. In the summer, the higher inland temperatures over the Iberian land mass create an area of low pressure that sets up wind currents bringing in the cooler Atlantic air. Weather conditions near the Atlantic coast are thus more moderate than further inland.

The prevailing north westerly breezes tend to be stronger in the afternoons and also stronger in the summer months, when inland temperatures are at their highest.


Lagos & Burgau

Lagos (pronounced "lah-gosh") is one of the Algarve's most attractive and historic towns, capturing the imagination with its carefree holiday spirit, laid-back lifestyle and immense historical wealth. With its cobbled streets and colourful Marina, Lagos has some excellent restaurants, good shops and great nightlife plus a range of family activities and superb beaches on the doorstep.

10 minutes west of Lagos is Burgau, a picturesque fishing Village with pretty white cottages, jumble of drawn up fishing boats and a sheltered sandy beach with lively beach bar. A handful of restaurants and mini-market serve the village and those looking for a more local lifestyle.

Quinta da Fortaleza

Quinta da Fortaleza is well located in between two sandy beaches. The closest, Cabanhas Velha, has its own well known beach bar/restaurant, open all year round, called The Blue Club The other Boca do Rio beach is 2kms, another sandy beach option within walking distance.

One mile west is the picturesque fishing village of Burgau and one mile east is the village of Salema so you have a variety of small shops and restaurants within easy reach. A supermarket is found 5 minutes by car in Budens and a large supermarket is in Lagos (15 minutes drive) for a more varied shopping list.

For guests looking to play tennis or maybe have a pamper in a day spa, the village of AlmaVerde (at the Burgau junction of the EN125) offers these facilities and please do let them know that you've booked through me if you go to reception.

Local Beaches:

The nearest beach is Cabanhas Velha with the sandy beaches of Burgau, Salema, Zavial, Figueira, Sagres and Martinhal all within 5 - 30 minute drive West. To the East are the beaches of Luz, Porto de Mos, Lagos and many more within 10 minutes.

Local Golf:

Only 10 minutes either East or West are two golf courses - Parque da Floresta and Boa Vista. Slightly further afoot are a range of golf courses, many of which are championship level - the famous Penina, Quinta do Lago and Vale da Lobo (Golden Triangle) courses are within a 45 minute drive.
