About the home

Magical house that stands overlooking the dramatic Atlantic and rugged coastal path. With five bedrooms, four are en suite, and a total of five bath/shower rooms this is a great property for families and groups of friends looking to be really close to the sea for surfing, swimming and with a large garden great for ball games too. Short walk to local shop and, pub with superb views and good restaurants. Bude town about five minute drive to the North.

The West Country / Cornwall region

The North Cornwall coast is a very popular destination for those looking for the spectacular scenery on offer and the superb, many very secluded, beaches that this area has. A terrific place for peace and tranquillity as well as breathtaking walks - with Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor very close by. Many places of historic interest to visit such as Lanyhdrock House, Tintagel Castle, the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan all within a reasonable drive of our house.

The Bude / Widemouth Bay area

Bude offers good shopping, a good array of restaurants and pubs. Splash swimming pool has a flume and health suite, and there is a leisure complex for bowling and indoor play. Boats can be hired on Bude canal and there is windsurfing, sailing, kayaking (either just hire or book lessons) at Lower Tamar Lake.
We have an arrangement with the local Links course, Bude and North Cornwall, for our guests and there are good courses at nearby Holsworthy, St Enedoc and the Jack Nicklaus designed St Mellion.

Widemouth Bay is considered one of the best surfing beaches in the area and we can arrange lessons for beginners and improvers. Bude has two superb beaches, Summerleaze and Crooklets, both ideal for bathing and surfing and Bude has one of the few remaining sea pools in the country which is perfect for youngsters when the waves are a little fierce. Lifeguards patrol most beaches and the pool throughouth the summer months. There are outdoor pursuit centres nearby, tennis, squash, horseriding, bowls and a gym in the town.

There are many National Trust properties nearby; Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Arlington Court and The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are about and hour and a half in the car. Morwellham Quay is a great insight into a Victorian harbour and how it worked and there are many other attractions as well as the fantastic scenery and coastal activities on offer.

“Wonderful West Haven” We have just returned home after an amazing week at West Haven, we'd call it "West Heaven". What a find! From the moment we arrived, we were so excited with everything about this house and its location. It's even better in real life than on the website. The location is amazing, just across the road to the path to the beach. The garden is amazing for ball games, even croquet. The games room is a real bonus for familys like ours who love to have tournements in the evenings, pool, darts and table football. It is amazing to sit outside and listen to the sea or at any time of day, watch the sun go down. The only bad thing was leaving.

“A fantastic week in West Haven” We had a lovely week at West Haven at the beginning of September 2010. We are a family of 4 couples and 1 baby and all of us loved the house, its location and the facilities. Nick and his team were super helpful and answered any questions about activities in the local area as well as any of the other random questions we asked. The house was very clean and in great condition and big enough to accommodate 10 people allowing for everyone to have enough space. We spent a lot of time on the huge window seat in the lounge overlooking the sea and soaking up the sun as well as reading or watching one of the numerous DVDs in the evening. We spent a lot of time cooking together (including lots of fresh seafood!) There are a few restaurants within walking distance - however the pavements were few and far between so dangerous walking when it is dark. Whilst there we visited Padstow (beautiful and bought lots of fresh fish), Eden Project (not quite up to our expectations but worth going if you use tesco vouchers it is cheaper and you beat the queue), Bude (very picturesque, big beach and pool plus great ice cream and lots of walking opportunities). The house is just over the road from the beach and great for walking, jogging, surfing (place to hire boards just up the beach beach) and of course "adventure" swimming - yes we swam in October! In the review I have recommended the house for people with disabilities because there are 3 rooms in the ground floor and easy parking. Worth noting that when we were there the path to the beach was very rocky. Overall, we would definitely recommend this house - in fact two of the party were talking about returning next year with another big group. Thank you Nick and team for a great week.

“You will never want to leave” This is the most amazing house in a breathtaking location. The description undersells this house if anything. The rooms have the most amazing sea views and the games room is well equipped. I have stayed in many holiday homes and this one beats them all. The house is roomy but still has some homely touches like the window sofa's - just perfect for winter evenings in front of the fire. The beach is a stone's throw away and if like us you like braving the elements - then an exhilarating walk on the beach is a perfect start to the day. The house is served by some touch knot restaurants like Bay View Inn and in particular Life's a beach. Shopping locally is excellent and I recommend the North Coast wine shop and Lansdown Dairy. Nick Compton has always been incredibly helpful and nothing is too much trouble - it is always a pleasure to deal with him and you know the property will be well worth it. I really can't praise this house enough or Elite West Holidays and if you want a holiday rental that you never want to leave then this is the place for you!

“Stunning location and fantastic property” lizzie West Midlands Review Submitted: April 27, 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011 We have just returned from our stay at West Haven, the whole family enjoyed this marvellous house which catered for everyones need even the games room was well used. The location is stunning with exceptional sea views and the hillside surrounding area. It was just perfect. Widemouth Bay was ideal for Bodyboarding and surfing and the beach was just down a pathway - we all walked for hours with our dogs. There was plenty of parking also for the families cars. We all have loved every moment of our stay here.

“Perfect for a great holiday in Cornwall” Jez Luxembourg This house met all our expectations and more. It is modern, clean and offers plenty of space. The kitchen is well equipped, the house has comfortable beds, nice bathrooms etc. It is very well looked after and the games room and big garden are a bonus. Also its position just across the road from the beach and its breathtaking views really make it a perfect holiday base. Plenty to do in the area, such as body boarding (big waves!), village pubs with gardens for kids to play on swings etc, King Arthur's Castle in Tintagal, bluereef aquarium in Newquay etc. Special mention to Nick Compton from elite west holidays who was extremely helpful and efficient.
