Upton House is a fantastic house built from local Cornish stone and offers really superb accommodation for up to twelve. Original flagstone floors are to be found in the hallway, impressive kitchen and conservatory and there are a further two sitting rooms providing plenty of space for all.
Upton House is a short walk to Bude's renowned canal which offers gentle strolls into town and beaches or inland to the nature reserve. Perfectly placed for a relaxing and tranquil holiday, there is plenty for the outdoor adventurer nearby. Widemouth Bay offers great surfing and swimming and the coast path is a must for those who like to take the bracing sea air with fantastic cliff walks.

The West Country / Cornwall region
The North Cornwall coast is a very popular destination for those looking for the spectacular scenery on offer and the superb, many very secluded, beaches that this area has. A terrific place for peace and tranquillity as well as breathtaking walks - with Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor very close by. Many places of historic interest to visit such as Lanyhdrock House, Tintagel Castle, the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan all within a reasonable drive of our house.
The Bude / Upton area
Bude offers good shopping, a good array of restaurants and pubs. Splash swimming pool has a flume and health suite, and there is a leisure complex for bowling and indoor play. Boats can be hired on Bude canal and there is windsurfing, sailing, kayaking (either just hire or book lessons) at Lower Tamar Lake.
We have an arrangement with the local Links course, Bude and North Cornwall, for our guests and there are good courses at nearby Holsworthy, St Enedoc and the Jack Nicklaus designed St Mellion.
Widemouth Bay is considered one of the best surfing beaches in the area and we can arrange lessons for beginners and improvers. Bude has two superb beaches, Summerleaze and Crooklets, both ideal for bathing and surfing and Bude has one of the few remaining sea pools in the country which is perfect for youngsters when the waves are a little fierce. Lifeguards patrol most beaches and the pool throughouth the summer months. There are outdoor pursuit centres nearby, tennis, squash, horseriding, bowls and a gym in the town.
There are many National Trust properties nearby; Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Arlington Court and The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are about and hour and a half in the car. Morwellham Quay is a great insight into a Victorian harbour and how it worked and there are many other attractions as well as the fantastic scenery and coastal activities on offer.

Eight of us stayed at Upton House to celebrate my 40th birthday and what a fantastic time we had! Upton House is truly a large beautiful house set in delightful grounds. A perfect location to explore the area of north Cornwall. It really has to be the best house in Bude!! Everything was perfect ... the space (so much of it!) decor, furniture, contents (I have never seen so many plates, cups and wine glasses!) Two lounges both with flat screen tvs and their own sky boxes ... certainly a plus when both sport and films are wanting to be watched!) The beds and duvets were amazing ... the most comfortable I have ever slept in. This really is a first class house and Elite West Holidays offer a first class service. Can't wait to return! Hopefully I won't have to wait until my 50th birthday!! |

We enjoyed the natural style of the house and the wonderful planted garden. That's what we searched to have a relaxed time at the coastline to go for walks on the path at the seaside and a good place for trips to interesting seightseeings into the country. Bude has got shopping centres and small shops to get all we need and also for having a relaxed time in the time between seightseeings. Also the canal which is next to the house is a wonderful place for good walks. Thank you for making our stay in Cornwall so wonderful and for your sympatical and helpful way to give us all the information we need to make the holiday so unforgettable. |
