About the home

19 Glade is situated in a parkland setting with open grass in front of the chalet's terrace. which faces south west with views to the sea over Coombe Valley. The chalet is looked after by our own local caretaker and has been cared for and improved by us for many years. Our guests usually spend some days visiting such places as the 'Big Sheep', Tintagel Castle or beaches or walking parts of the North Cornwall coastal path. Kilkhampton has several useful shops including fish and chips, post office, grocers and also 2 friendly pubs.(8-10mins walk)
Penstowe Manor (250 yards) offers bar and restaurant facilites including entertainment and for those taking club membership sports including bowls, tennis, squash and use of the indoor swimming pool.
The coastal path, Clovelly, Hartland, Bude, Widemouth, Boscastle and Tintagel are all within easy reach with their wonderful views. Tamar lakes offer cycling and fishing, Bude (6m) has surfing and good swimming beaches plus a tidal pool and indoor pool, also its canal, breakwater and links golf course.

All bedlinen is provided with the exception of any required for the travel cot. Towels and tea towels are NOT provided.

Guests may use the facilities at Penstowe Manor (membership required for use of indoor pool and sports halls) but the restaurant, bars and evening entertainment may all be used as can the shop and bars at the Stables.

£50 deposit, the balance 28 days in advance of the start date or in full if the start date is less than one month ahead.

Conditions

Normally weekly bookings commence on a Saturday, short breaks available within 28 days of dates required. We need at least 5 days from confirmed booking to the start date of your holiday.

The West Country / Cornwall region

North Cornwall has a rocky coast with beautiful sandy beaches from Sandmouth south west and rocky beaches from Duckpool to Clovelly. Both Sandymouth and Duckpool are the nearest beaches to Kilkhampton.
Bude has supermarkets and all town facilities but has the advantage of its 2 wide open beaches and tidal swimming pool plus its breakwater which is well worth visiting after crossing the canal with its sea lock. Boats can be hired on the canal and there is a museum by the canal. Surfing lessons can be booked and also many other activities suitable for the active.

Down the A39 are Bodmin Moor with good walks to Rough Tor and Brown Willy. Port Isaac of Doc Martin fame is just short of Wadebridge and Wadebridge has the Camel Trail for cycling to Padstow and Bodmin. (hire of bikes near the old railway station).

If the weather is inclement it is worth checking if a short drive can get you into sunshine as it can vary over quite short distances.

Approach via M5 to Junction 27, then A361 to Barnstaple and A39 to Kilkhamkpton. Pass through the village, down the hill for 300 yards and just before the Sandymouth junction enter though the gateway. 19 The Glade is about 200 yards on your left adjacent to a small car park.
