About the home

in a quiet close in Bude, 400 yards from the wide expanse of golden sand (rock pools) of Crooklets beach and coastal path, two modern, semi-detached houses on three floors with long views to Maers Down. Golf course, shops, cafés and restaurants are a few hundred yards away, with Bude's second huge beach (Summerleaze), 800 yards. Brilliantly convenient houses and manageable without a car. Coach/bus stop, 700 yards.... The Loft has a neat, enclosed lawn with patio (table/chairs). Inside, recently decorated and refurbished, making this house light, fresh and very comfortable. Hall and ground-floor twin bedroom, opposite a shower-room (suite); plenty of space for coats/shoes and back door to garden. Stairs up to living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, gas hob/eye-level oven) with nautical fabrics, TV/DVD and patio windows to balustrade. Stairs up to two more bedrooms – a double (5'2” bed) with patio windows to balustrade, en suite shower-room (suite) and small TV, and a twin (2'6” x 5'10” beds); bathroom (suite plus bath-shower).

The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall's north coast: from the river Camel north to Bude and on to Morwenstow and the highest cliffs in the West Country, it is a mixture of great cliffs and beaches. Walking (coast path) and bird-friendly cliffs (usually no road near): peregrines possible. Great sand/surf beaches at Polzeath, Trebarwith, Widemouth Bay, Bude and Sandy Mouth; sandy coves at Port Gaverne, Bossiney, Crackington Haven, Duckpool, and others less accessible; Rock, also sandy, is the place for watersports, including sailing on the Camel estuary; very fine golf course (St Enodoc); mini-fjords at Port Quin and Boscastle. Port Isaac is very pretty round its cliff-enclosed harbour.
The well-worth-riding Camel Trail cycleway (bicycles for hire) follows the river Camel from Bodmin Moor to Padstow. Pencarrow is a beautiful house with wonderful garden. Tintagel has a ruined castle (King Arthur's?) on a wild headland. St Juliot church was restored by Thomas Hardy and 'a pair of blue eyes' nearly fell down a Crackington cliff. Bodmin Moor, its highest hills quite mountainous, is only a little way inland and Blisland, on its northern edge, is one of Cornwall's prettiest villages - makes a change from sea: so does lovely Lanhydrock (see Cornwall's 'Med'). Not far to Eden (see South Cornwall).

The Bude area

Bude: small, friendly resort with two magnificent sand/surf beaches, natural sea water bathing pool, lots of grassy running-about space behind them, and canal through middle for boating, coarse fishing and swans. Shops, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool/sports centre, golf, riding - an easy walk from everywhere. Surfing tuition/hire. Superb cliff-walking coast.

“A1 property, A1 location” Relatively new property in fantastic location for beach, with two quiet pubs within 100 yards. Property was very well furnished and you wanted for nothing (even had body boards in the garage). Bed in the main bedroom was the most comfortable I have ever slept in outside my own home. You couldn't ask for more, it was that good my other half wants to go back already (and we never go back to the same place twice). five stars ***** Response: Thank you for your lovely comments.
