""Christmas in Baywater""
We were looking forward to spending our Christmas all together staying at Baywater... The positives were that the accommodation was spacious for the 10 of us plus 2 dogs, it was in short walking dista… More
Firstly and foremost I would like to say that I really sympathise with these guests and the fact that they were so understanding about the boiler problem when they were there. It was a terrible shame that this happened on the 24th of December, when nothing was open, otherwise, the boiler would have been repaired the same or next day.
However, I would like to point out that this problem was in no way down to a lack of maintenance and in fact the boiler had been fitted with a brand new pump in April and had its full annual service. This pump, which is still under guarantee, had for some reason failed. As anybody with a car will appreciate, that even when fully maintained things do go wrong with absolutely no warning or reason! And when it happens the day before Christmas there was nothing else that could have been done except to supply the heaters and offer our sincere apologies, which I did by email twice, but never got a reply, just this review!
The property was made ready for them a couple of days in advance with a Christmas tree supplied by us, to facilitate an early arrival. When this was done, the heating and hot water were all working perfectly, as it had been for the previous guests in December.
As for the other comments these will all be looked into and rectified immediately, but most of them could have been taken care of, if reported at the time, which they were not.
Unfortunately Cornwall had been hit by the terrible storms over that period and I did feel relieved that we still had a games room in the back garden but can only apologise for the water that managed to force its way in and caused a few puddles!
Once again, I do feel very sorry for these guests and do appreciate the kind comments they made about Baywater as well.

Just spent a lovely week at Baywater. Property was clean, welcoming and well equiped. Situated just minutes away from the sea. Grandchildren loved pool table. Would definitely recommend this property. Only downside ... we had only booked a week!!!

"Expexcted it to be good but in fact was alot better!"
Better than we all thought, nicely tucked away but within easy walking distance of beach and pub, lovely location at Widemouth Bay which is an excellent beach great for sitting around, rockpooling or surfing. The Bungalow was perfect for us and Tracey was very helpful when we arrived. All had a great time and would definitely stay again. :)

"Fantastic holiday, lovely place."
Upon arriving at Baywater (2 hours early due to our enthusiasm to start our holiday) we called the caretaker and she directed us to the key. What followed was pleasant surprise followed by pleasant surprise. The kitchen/dining /lounge area is very bright and spacious and of a good standard. The kitchen itself is a good size, nicely fitted with all the appliances of home, the breakfast bar has a lovely view with rolling hills and the sea to the far left. The dining table easily seats six adults and backs on to the lounge area which consists of two sofas and LCD TV. The lounge area has french doors which lead out to the decked patio area and garden with games room. The main hallway, leads from the dining room area to the bedrooms, wc and bathroom. The bedroom we stayed in was equipped with an en-suite shower room with with toilet, this is all finished to a good standard. Our friends occupied the other bedrooms and shared the family bathroom, again, finished to a good standard. The second bedroom is situated down two steps in to (what would have once been) the garage. It contains a double bed and one single bed. This room also contained the broom cupboard and washing machine cupboard. The third bedroom is a standard double room and the fourth room contained three single beds. The house generally was excellent for our needs, our party contained three groups (3 couples, 2 with young toddlers) It was spacious, easy to clean and comfortable, especially given that linen and towels were also included. The only fault of the whole place was that the separate toilet was awaiting a replacement part but this was not a problem as we were well informed of this and there were two other toilets for use.
Outside there is a large driveway with parking for plenty (we had three cars in our group and there was easily space for double that), rear garden with lawn and decking. The games room is situated in the corner of the rear garden and is a massive bonus. It is basically a free standing conservatory with laminate flooring, a pub pool table (free to play) a poster of some VW campervans and a decorative surf board. I cannot stress how good this was, we spent most early evenings out there once the babies were in bed, chatting and playing pool.
Above all, the location is the real trump card. A three minute walk and you are standing on the gorgeous Widemouth Bay beach. The bay itself has a number of restaurants/pubs and a small shop. We ate out at the Bay View Inn and were very impressed with the food and local beer/cider. The town of Bude is a five minute drive/one hour walk away. and has bakeries, shops, cafe's and two supermarkets.
Overall I can't fault this place, it was really good value for money and the location was excellent . I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. We also found that communication with owner was very easy and we received our deposit back swiftly on our return home.
Ten out of ten.

"Flexible, well appointed house, easy walk to beach"
We appreciated the 4 bedrooms and open plan living area which made accommodating extended family easy, The pool table was well used and the patio was great for sitting out. It was an easy walk to beach, coastal path and didn't have the crowds of Bude. The house was simply furnished with all one needed for a comfortable holiday. We would recommend this place and would consider returning at some time in the future.

"Beautiful location, excellent value for money."
Widemouth Bay is a beautiful place to spend your holidays. The everyone had great fun on the beach attempting to surf and the dogs loved the long walks.
The bungalow was excellent value as it housed 2 families quite comfortably. The teenagers especially liked the garden room with the pool table.
The owner was very friendly, lovely to deal with and returned the security deposit the same day.
We had a wonderful time and would recommend this bungalow to anyone.

Of the 10 sleeping spaces we found 1 double mattress, 1 king-sized mattress and 1 single mattress that although we could still feel the springs were the best of those provided. This was after trial and error and dragging mattresses in and out of rooms. The others were so bad you could feel every spring and were not fit to sleep on. The bedding was old and bobbled and 1 sheet had stains all over it. One bedroom was a converted garage that was damp and smelling.
