The North Cornwall coast is a very popular destination for those looking for the spectacular scenery on offer and the superb, many very secluded, beaches that this area has. A terrific place for peace and tranquillity as well as breathtaking walks - with Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor very close by. Many places of historic interest to visit such as Lanyhdrock House, Tintagel Castle, the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan all within a reasonable drive of our house.
The Bude area
Bude offers good shopping, a good array of restaurants and pubs. Splash swimming pool has a flume and health suite, and there is a leisure complex for bowling and indoor play. Boats can be hired on Bude canal and there is windsurfing, sailing, kayaking (either just hire or book lessons) at Lower Tamar Lake.
We have an arrangement with the local Links course, Bude and North Cornwall, for our guests and there are good courses at nearby Holsworthy, St Enedoc and the Jack Nicklaus designed St Mellion.
Widemouth Bay is considered one of the best surfing beaches in the area and we can arrange lessons for beginners and improvers. Bude has two superb beaches, Summerleaze and Crooklets, both ideal for bathing and surfing and Bude has one of the few remaining sea pools in the country which is perfect for youngsters when the waves are a little fierce. Lifeguards patrol most beaches and the pool throughout the summer months. There are outdoor pursuit centres nearby, tennis, squash, horseriding, bowls and a gym in the town.
There are many National Trust properties nearby; Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Arlington Court and The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are about and hour and a half in the car. Morwellham Quay is a great insight into a Victorian harbour and how it worked and there are many other attractions as well as the fantastic scenery and coastal activities on offer.

A spacious property that had everything to make our stay a memorable one. Excelled pre visit support and our one 'emergency' on a Sunday morning was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The property is within walking distance of Widemouth Bay and is a few minutes car ride to Bude. Couldn't fault it. |

I'm the Business Development Director for a Group of companies, six brands, three international. I work with very demanding clients, and shift impossible hours. When I take a break, it is usually at a moment's notice, usually once a year. As such, my holiday has to really, really count. I stayed in Little Brocksmoor for two weeks in June-July 2010. The holiday was arranged, at short notice, by Nick at Elite West Holidays. I've used Nick before, and will again. He knows I need a place of quality, character, and peace. I count Nick alongside my doctor, lawyer and my serial entrepreneur boss as someone who knows me well enough for me to trust implicitly his recommendations. I had never stayed at Little Brocksmoor before; Nick recommended it, and I wasn't disappointed. The property is tucked away on a hillside, an old property reclaimed to the highest standard, with all the plasma screen open plan top of the range mod cons you might look for. These things I expect, but what marks the place out, and that to which I was so thankful for, is the peace amidst nature it afforded. The weather helped of course. It was glorious, radiant blue sky, wide open beeches, so short a walk away that you couldn't call it a walk at all, more coming out of the private gate then after a few yards, turning left. Shops were nearby, as were deliveries if a good book got great. But being a country boy, the real trick was the way the property had been deliberately opened up to nature. Not just the Velux windowed, oak beamed roof which let in the cry of seagulls by day and owls by night, but the first floor patio overlooking an ancient fir where daily you could toast a pair of circling buzzards as you nestled into your breakfast also made each moment a moment far removed from the day to day of meetings and spreadsheets. If the only thing interrupting your lie in is the sound of a braying donkey in the small farm opposite, then you can return to sleep smiling, if not laughing. So the place is perfect, for me? Yes. But during my last few days, visiting family were equally charmed. Some by the decor and location. Some by the fact that the local pub is as short a walk away as the beach, though far enough for it not to follow you home. All by the airy languid effect it has on you from the moment you arrive. A home it was. And as such, none of us wanted to leave. |

Little Brocksmoor DougAl28 Worcestershire Review Submitted: October 4, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010 We have used Elite West Holidays twice before and stayed in such beautiful properties in Bude we thought we'd do it again this year and try a new area and a new property and we weren't disappointed. Little Brocksmoor proved to be just as brilliant as the previous properties we have stayed in - it was beautifully clean, incredibly well maintained being as we went near the end of the summer season and very well presented with bright airy open plan rooms and as with our previous stays in Elite West Holidays properties was exactly as described on the listing. The kitchen was very well equipped and we wanted for nothing. When we did have a very slight problem with a missing key after a quick call to Nick at Elite West Holidays this was very quickly remedied and proved their customer service even during the busy season was spot on as always. Having researched places to eat from Elite West Holidays website we had a meal at The Widemouth Manor Hotel which was absolutely lovely and we also had fish and chips from the chip shop in Widemouth Bay which were well worth the recommendation. Widemouth Bay was lovely with great beaches and views and just a short drive from Bude if you wanted some shops and a little seaside entertainment in the amusements by the beach. I would have absolutely no problem recommending using Elite West Holidays for booking a holiday as they have excellent customer service, provide great information on their website which is really useful for researching things before you go on holiday and their properties have all proved to be of an excellent standard - so much so we have already booked with them for 2011. |
