Home description

Two bedrooms each with a large double bed (160x200, and 180x200), plus a double sofa-bed in the lounge (in addition to two more sofas).

Totally modernized to a high standard and kept very clean. Top floor courtyard (with lift) means it is quiet, despite being in the centre, but sunny too. All bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, some tea and coffee, sugar salt and pepper are provided.

The apartment is regularly used by Americans and properly equipped to the standard they expect. I am from the UK, I live locally and I own and manage the apartment. I can also arrange an airport pick-up if you wish.

The Central Hungary/Danube region

Attractions in Budapest include "Szechenyi furdo" which is perhaps the best thermal baths in Budapest, with many indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, steam rooms and massage. This is based in the City park which also offers a boating lake (ice skating in winter), theme park, zoo, circus and transport museum.

On the same line you have 'Opera' (just a couple of minutes) which is, unsurprisingly, the Opera house.
From the apartment you can walk over the Chain Bridge ('LancHid') in ten minutes to the centre of Buda. On the other side of the Danube you take the funicular railway up the hill.

Good entertainment for kids is the Children's' Railway - it is operated by school kids (except for the train drivers). A half-hour drive (out of town) there is a modern water park.

Nice restaurants close to the apartment include Cafe Kor and Cafe Gerloczy (great for lunch or dinner, Hungarian and international food). The famous Gerbeaud Cafe is a one minute walk (lots of cake).


Budapest / District 5 area

You are close to the Millenium underground, the oldest metro in continental Europe, and now renovated. You can take this to Hosok Tere (10 minutes) to the main art gallery with exhibitions, and the modern art gallery. This is also a key tourist attraction with statues of various leaders of Hungary and the of the leaders of the original 7 magyar tribes.

Formula One (late July). Sziget Festival - rock music (mid-July). Lots of wine festivals and minor events... ask me :-)

"I am writing to say how pleased my family and I were with the apartment. It was spotlessly clean upon arrival and we were all impressed with how spacious the rooms were (the pictures on the website make it look deceptively small!). The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we could have wanted to make it a real home from home. We were particularly impressed with its location which was just superb (I was amazed just how quiet the apartment was to say it is in such a central location – we never heard any noise from the road at all). My parents are elderly but they found the apartment convenient for everything - virtually all the major attractions within walking distance and there was very good access to the public transport systems for those that were not. Even the supermarket was less than a minutes’ walk from the front door (perfect for fetching fresh bread every morning!). I was really impressed and will definitely come and stay there again. I also wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. I would also like to thank the owner for his kind assistance prior to the trip. He was certainly very helpful and really helped in getting everything organised smoothly and efficiently. I really appreciated his assistance.
