The Central Hungary/Danube region
Hungary and Budapest are famous for thermal spring waters, there are 137 areas only in the capital where hot water springs from deep below. That is why there are so many thermal baths some dating back to the 17th century and still in use.
The studio is located in the most central part of downtown, just 15 minutes from a refreshing bath in the splendid turn-of-the century Gellert medicinal bath and hotel.
Another special attraction in the downtown, only 10 min. walk away from the studio is the Market Hall, also built at the turn-of-the-century. Enjoy buying fresh fruits from and with the locals in this historic building.
Budapest / District 5 area
The 5th district is the heart of the downtown area and is the centre of intellectual, political and cultural life and tourism. The district runs along the Danube and offers a wonderful view across the river onto the Gellert Hill, the Castle, the Matthias Church and the Chain Bridge.
Front of the studio runs the Nr.2 tram that connects one end of the district to the other end running along the Danube. Taking a ride is worths it if you want to have a splendid view of the main tourist attractions. When you hop off you may want to take a stroll along the embankment of the Danube.
Behind the studio the next street is the main shopping street that leads on one end to the most famous Gerbeaud Cafe, and on the other end to the equally famous Market Hall.
Shop after shop, restaurants, cafes, bars, tourist offices, galleries, boutiques offer plenty to explore. This is the centre of dining and night-life. Should just wish to have a quiet night, there is also a 24/7 food store just around the corner in the Iranyi street.
My favourite restaurants/cafes around the studio: BorLaBor - around the corner in the Veres Palne street, Nr.7. Wine restaurant in the cellar Astoria Mirror Cafe - 100 year old Hotel Cafe with deep sitting armchairs Karolyi Etterem - is hidden in the wonderful garden of the Karolyi Palace which houses The Museum of Literature Petofi in Karolyi Mihaly street 16.
After visiting the Gerbeaud Cafe, you may want to hop on the oldest subway in Continental Europe that takes you to the Opera, the National Puppet Theatre, Hero Square, the Fine Art Museum, City Park, the only permanent Circus in Central and Western Europe, to the 100 year old Zoo and to the Vajdahunyad Castle.
If you are an admirer of fine porcelain, there is the flagship store of the worldwide known Herendi Porcelan just behind the Gerbeaud Cafe.

Guestbook for Danube Studio Budapest
Guest Review from ribeiro - Sep 24, 2009 "Great Location, Great Apartment" The Apartment itself was great, everything you need in a self sustained flat, very well looked after and in excellent condition. The location of the apartment was perfect. Central, and close to all the key sites within the city. There is a tourist information centre next door which is also very handy. The landlord was contactable for any concerns or queries that we had and were very nice and helpful during our stay. I highly recommend this apartment and there is no question that this is apartment is my first choice next time i'm in Budapest! 10/10
-------------------
Reviewed on: 06/22/2009 for their stay in 05/2009 I stayed at the studio apartment at Belgrad rakpart in downtown Budapest right near the Elizabeth bridge for a week in mid-May this year.
The owner-manager, Kati, was there to meet me as promised and explained to me how everything in the apartment works. The online picture really doesn't do it justice. The best part is there´s enough storage space and closets to open a boutique! The door to the apartment is about half a foot thick and is insulated with leather-clad padding! Conveys a reassuring sense of security, anyway.
I ate lunch and/or dinner out, so I didn`t need the fully-equipped kitchen, which was just as spotlessly-clean and well-thought out as the rest of the place. Feels like home-very inviting.
The best thing about the place is its location. Right on the river, just across from the main tram line that goes along the Pest side of the Danube. Two streets behind the building is Vaci utca, the main shopping street in town. The best thing about aprtment tourism is being able to come and go as you please. Combine that with the first-class location and the place is hard to beat for the price. I´ll be back.
