The Central Hungary/Danube region

Erzebetvaros, District VII (Elizabeth Town), includes the Jewish quarter of Budapest. Its narrow streets that once evoked the ghetto that filled its innermost area culminating in the Great Synagogue have recently given way to increasing gentrification and now house some of the city's design shops and some of its most upmarket restorations and new constructions (including Gozsdu Udvar on the site of what had once been a warren of artisan workshops and metal-smiths). It is rich with cultural history that still pokes through the new storefronts and is well worth visiting as one makes one's way from the Belvaros to the Opera or the Liszt Music Academy must at it s outer fringes. The Synagogue (just off Kàroly korüt) is the world's second largest (or largest depending on whom you ask; in a wonderfully Hungarian manner it's not about a dispute of facts, but a matter of whether one is counting square feet -in which case NYC's Temple Emanuel has a slight edge - or number of seats - in which case the Great Synagogue gets top billing) and is well worth the 1800HUF entrance fee.

"The best place to stay"

"Fab, centrally located, newly converted flat"

We loved everything about this flat. It had been newly converted & had a beautiful, well equipped, red high gloss kitchen area. The bathroom had also been recently renovated with a great shower, beautiful tiles etc. it was Huge....! Lots of pubs, including 2 of those crazy Budapest ones, restaurants and a big Spar supermarket all within a few minutes of the flat. City centre was just a few minutes walk away. The fiat was really quiet and as it is situated at the back of the building we didn't hear any noise at all at night. All furniture, electrical goods etc were very modern and we loved our bedroom situated on the mezzanine level up a modern staircase. Owner was very helpful & couldn't do enough for us. Nothing bad to say about it at all.

Thanks a lot for the wonderfull review and the wonderfull words. Kind regards Maurizio
