The Central Hungary/Danube region

There are plenty of other capital cities on the banks of the river, and in many cases the river runs trough the historic centre. But such a wide and majestic river, as it is Danube at Budapest, is more of rarity. Even more exceptional is the perfect contrast between the two banks. The Pest, town of the Millennium, anniversary of Hungarians, flourishing period when the flat town got its actual shape and the Medieval hilly Buda, with Gothic Matthias church the Hungarian kings were crowned, and the so many times destroyed and restored Royal Castle, art novae Gellert Hotel with its thermal baths.

The café-bar scene is concentrated in two distinct areas: Liszt Ferenc tér and Ráday utca near Kálvin tér. The most popular shopping area in Budapest is Váci utca and the neighbouring streets, look out for the old fashioned small shops in the courtyards of the houses.
Stroll down elegant Andrássy út past the Opera House, cafés and restaurants to Heroes’ Square. The square is flanked by the Museum of Fine Arts and The Art Hall where temporary exhibitions are held.

How to get there

Budapest is a Capital of Hungary, many of European low cost airlines fly to Budapest...but from Austria, Italy or Slovakia it is comfortable to get here also by car. Apartment is in the heart of the town, two steps from the central walking street, thermal bats, famous Covered Market Hall, metro stations.
