L'endroit est magique, comme une oasis au milieu de la ville. Une fois passé le seuil de la porte de rue vous pénétrez dans un ilot de verdure loin des bruits urbains.

Situé en plein coeur du quartier européen, nombreux commerces et restaurants à moins de 100 mètres. Station de métro à 500 mètres. Parc du Cinquantenaire, musées, lieux historiques dans un rayon de 3 kilomètres à peine.

Le duplex abrite 3 chambres sur deux étages, deux salles de bain avec baignoires et douches, une cuisine hyper-équipée, feu ouvert deux faces donnant sur le salon et sur la salle à manger. Appartement hyper lumineux. Parking privé et grand jardin.

A noter que ce duplex est l'endroit où je vis régulièrement avec mes enfants. Cela induit que les armoires et penderies contiennent des affaires personnelles (vêtements, livres, DVD's, jeux, etc...). Une pièce est également fermée car privée. Beaucoup d'espaces de rangement sont cependant à votre disposition exclusive. Il est bien entendu que durant le temps de location, cet appartement est entièrement le vôtre dans le respect des affaires qu'il contient.

"A hidden gem in the heart of Brussels"

Rather than spend our week in a Brussels hotel, we booked this three-bedroom apartment through Holiday Lettings. The Old Brewery looked fantastic on the website but we drove straight past the address at first, before spotting a nondescript roll up garage door in between some shops and office buildings.

Well, it was like The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, driving into a secret courtyard and suddenly discovering this magnificent old red-brick building.

Jean-Jacques, the owner, has completely renovated the property over 25 years. His recording and sound mixing studios take up the ground floor and basement, while the first and second floors are now self-contained apartments which can also be hired together for families or larger groups.

Entry by an external stairwell means it wouldn't suit those with wheelchairs or prams (or even those with a fear of heights) but once inside, the place is just jaw-droppingly beautiful. Wooden floors throughout, huge windows letting the natural light flood in, tasteful décor, a glass double-fronted fireplace and the open-plan kitchen/dining and living areas give such a feeling of space…not to mention the four-poster in our master bedroom.

No show-house vibe though…this was very much someone's home and we were encouraged to treat it like our home from home. Which we most certainly did.

Upstairs our two teenagers had their own rooms as well as a kitchen, living room and separate toilet and bathroom. “They must be rich!” gasped my daughter as she took in her surroundings.

As well as his impressive 70s prog rock CD collection, Jean-Jacques had left personal recommendations for Place Jourdan, the local hot spot for restaurants and bars and home to Brussels' most famous chippy, Maison Antoine, which seemed to have a permanent snaking queue of hungry punters.

I've got a feeling we'll be back for another sip of this Brewery...
