This beautiful traditional Istrian stone house comfortably sleeps 6 people in 3 well-furnished double bedrooms. It is situated in the village of Brtonigla, a friendly hill-top Istrian village offering outstanding views over the bay of Trieste. Brtonigla has a distinctive Italian feel due to its history and proximity to the Slovenian and Italian borders, indeed most local inhabitants can be heard conversing in Italian.

The accommodation in House Leo I is arranged over 3 floors. The fully equipped open-plan kitchen and dining room are on the first floor as is the comfortable lounge and a shower-room. On the second floor there are 2 double bedrooms, one with doors opening to a balcony perfect for enjoying the spectacular view of the sunset over the sea, and a further shower-room. The third floor has the master bedroom with wonderful original restored wooden beamed ceiling and en suite shower room. All rooms are fully air conditioned.

Outside there is a small paved terrace at the rear of the house. Parking is available in the village square just to the front of the house.

House Leo has been awarded an official Four Star rental categorisation by the Croatian authorities.

The Istria region

Istria is the western-most county of the Republic of Croatia and the largest peninsula on the Croatian coast. Bordering Slovenia to the north and in close proximity to the Italian city of Trieste, Istria is the most accessible part of Croatia from Western Europe.

Istria has a pleasant Mediterranean climate and an untouched natural beauty which is almost unheard of in coastal regions elsewhere in Europe. Coastal areas of Istria are lined with bustling summer holiday resorts such as Porec, Rovinj, Umag and Novigrad. Further inland green rolling hills, rows of vines and olive groves and picturesque hill-top towns and villages often lead to comparisons with Tuscany.

Brtonigla

Brtonigla is one such typical Istrian hill-top town. An interesting mix of local residents and holidaymakers from across Europe can be found frequenting the local café-bars and restaurants. The staff at the tourist office, just a few metres walk from House Leo, are always on hand to offer guidance and advice on the area – and in fluent English!

Brtonigla is transformed in the middle of August when the village plays host to the San Rocco festival – one of the biggest summer festivals in Istria. For three days (around August 16th) the streets are packed with live music, entertainment, open air food-stalls and a real carnival atmosphere.

Located only 6 km from the nearest beach and less than 10 km from some of the popular tourist resorts Brtonigla has something for everyone. Whether it be a holiday relaxing in the sun enjoying the easy village life and spectacular sunsets over the bay of Trieste or a more active time of water sports by day and partying by night the choice is up to you.

"Nice to take a rest"

Booking and communication with owner were great - all needed info was sent by e-mail to us. It was old style house from outside and renovated from inside located in small village. This house were idea… More
