The Dalmatia region
Dubrovnik is a beautiful medieval town on the Croatian Adriatic coast and the treasure trove of cultural - historical monuments. In the past it was a City-Republic, and alongside Venice one of the most famous cultural-economic centres of the Mediterranean. In more recent history is the centre of modern cultural and tourist events: a city of summer festivals - an international parade of top musical and theatrical achievements, a city of museums and galleries. It offers complete relaxation in a quiet and calming, mild Mediterranean climate, beautiful coastal scenery.
This is the oldest Renaissance garden in Dalmatia (according to an inscription from 1502), and today is the only arboretum in the entire Mediterranean part of Croatia. It is rich in exotic plants, and on the square before the arboretum are two massive plane-trees over 400 years old, unique examples of this species in Europe. At the end of the 15th century, Ivan Gucetic built a summer residence here in the Gothic-Renaissance style, with a chapel and garden (1494-1502). The villa was rebuilt following the earthquake of 1667. The arboretum with its exotic vegetation (massive plane-trees, palms, eucalyptus, and camphor) is decorated with stone columns. In 1736, the Baroque fountain depicting Neptune and the nymphs was added.

"Lovely apartment, great location!"
We absolutely loved the apartment Buza in Brsecine! It was perfect! There was a little market/convenience store near by, in the town of Slano, from which we bought groceries and took full advantage of the grill.
The location was perfect! It's about 15-20 km outside of Dubrovnik. The drive was not too bad. The apartment is located basically on a beach. It is a public beach but, in our 4 day stay there were only 3-4 families that used it. It's pretty much like we had our own private beach! And who wouldn't want that! We will definitely consider coming back the next time we visit the area!
