The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Foxfield is on the west coast of Cumbria close to the town of Broughton in Furness. It runs along the scenic Cumbrian Coast line which starts at Whitehaven and goes all the way to Barrow in Furness. The hamlet is located in the Duddon Valley which is a remote and unspoilt area which should delight walkers, mountain bikers and nature lovers. For family days out the popular attractions of The Ratty Railway, the oldest railway line in Cumbria, Holker Hall and Estate, the Coniston Launch with cruises on the lake and South Lakes Wild Animal Park with hundreds of animals to visit are all just a short drive away. Broughton in Furness is the closest village for amenities which include an award winning restaurant, tourist information centre and small convenience store.
