Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 3
Blackthorn Cottage is a 200-year-old cottage in the heart of County Antrim in Northern Ireland. It is well situated as it is near the beautiful Glens of Antrim and within easy reach of the stunning Antrim coastal road and the world heritage site of the Giant's Causeway, yet is also easily accessible from Belfast and from the port of Larne. The cottage is perfect for a self-catering holiday for two people (a third person can be accommodated on a sofa bed) . It is a detached property that sits in its own tree-lined garden. The cottage is heated by solar panels and a woodburning stove. It has a light and airy spacious sitting room; a large well-equipped kitchen; a bedroom with a double bed (which can be converted into twin beds); a small sitting room with a sofa bed; a utility room, and bathroom. We renovated this cottage a few years ago: it had stood empty for many years and was neglected and falling into disrepair. We transformed it into a comfortable holiday home that retains its traditional character.
The cottage is ideal for a couple, or two or three friends, who are looking for a holiday in an interesting property and will appreciate the quiet and beauty of the countryside of County Antrim.

About this location
The County Antrim region
This area of Northern Ireland is beautiful; we are near the Glens of Antrim in one direction and the busy town of Ballymena in the other. Attractions in this region include watersports on the north coast and on the rivers, hiking in the Antrim hills, fishing, tennis, leisure centre with swimming pool.
The weather in Northern Ireland is generally mild; it can be rainy some days even in the summer but at other times there is beautiful sunshine. It is a lovely area in which to walk or cycle. It is also a good place to visit on horseback (our neighbours run a livery stable). Throughout the year there are different events and festivals.
