Passirac is a small village in a lovely location. It is within 2 km of a very popular swimming lake with all the amenities you need for a relaxing holiday.
The gîte has two bedrooms, one double and one twin and a travel cot is also available.
The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, fridge-freezer and microwave.
The dining room seats four and a highchair is available. There is a well stocked book case.
In the lounge area there is seating for four, a TV/DVD player and a generous stock of DVDs.
The bathroom, with shower, and separate toilet are on the ground floor.
Outside there is a terrace with table, chairs and parasol, a barbeque and access to the enclosed garden. Parking is off-road.
This part of France is perfect for anyone who enjoys walking with walks signposted from the village and the possibility to join in with a local walking group.
For anyone who likes riding there is an equestrian centre which caters for riders of all abilities.
Bikes can be hired at the lake clubhouse.
During the summer months free concerts are held at the lake with a wide variety of musical styles showcased.
Passirac is ideally situated to visit any number of places. Brossac is the nearest village at 3 km where you will find a range of small shops including a bread shop, butchers, SPAR, pharmacy and post office. There is also a bank with 24 hour cash withdrawal facility. The restaurant in Brossac is open lunchtime and evening and also offers a takeaway pizza service
At the Lake St Valier you will find a beach and a club house offering a variety of activities such as crazy golf, and squash. Food is also available. The other restaurant at the lake enjoys lovely views and is open lunchtime and evenings.
For a truly French experience a visit to Chez Poirier at Bardenac is a must. The fixed menu never disappoints, and it is very reasonably priced. Open lunchtimes only.
Aubeterre (23km) is officially one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has a monolithic church, well worth a visit, and the village itself is picturesque with several good restaurants. The nearby River Dronne has canoeing and swimming.
Chalais (12km) is worth a visit on Monday for its lively street market, selling everything from cheese to chickens. There is also a well stocked supermarket.
About 40 minutes drive takes you to Angouleme with its pedestrianized old town, cathedral and impressive Hotel de Ville. There are also museums and the opportunity to take a cruise on the Charente river.
Not too far to the north is Cognac with its famous distilleries which can be visited and where you can sample the produce!
A trip to Bordeaux is always enjoyable - take the park and ride to avoid having to park in town.
The coast is an easy journey with pretty villages such as Talmont with its craft shops, and Royan with its superb beach.
