The Normandy / Eure region

If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you lovely walks on empty roads. Get up early and see the deer and rabbits, it is like having your own private estate. Bring your bikes and ride for miles without seeing cars.
Go to the bakers in Broglie and get your bread fresh every day, soak up the french way of life slow and uncomplicated.
The Broglie area
The local village of Broglie (5 min drive) has a farmers market every Friday.
A 10 minute drive to Orbec which has a large supermarket, petrol station and a lively town with lots of shops and restaurants.
The larger town of Bernay is 15 minutes away which boasts medieval buildings, river, and large market on a Saturday morning which is a defintate must see. The train station in Bernay has direct trains into Paris (1hr 20mins) and there is plenty of parking avaliable, often free.
There is also a golf course just outside Bernay.
And the tour de France is coming to Liseaux 20 minutes away on the 7th July.
The area is famous for Calvados (apple liquor), cider and pommeau (sweet apple wine), all made with local apples. The countryside is beautiful all year with the blossom in spring, apples in summer and an array of colour in autumn making it exceptionally attractive at any time of the year. There are many cheeses made locally too, with the most famous being Camembert, just a short drive to the village of the same name, home to the factory, which is well worth a visit. There is also a lovely fairytale castle in the region and many more things to see and do, including a cycle/walk path along an old railway line into the local main town of Bernay.
Further afield are the coastal towns of Honfleur and Deuville an hours drive away hosting lovely beaches, fine dining and scenic views. Half an hour away there is a large lake at Brionne with boats for hire and other watersports along with miniture golf.

A very good value French cottage within reasonable driving distance of Calais, situated in a very quiet village but close to a small town and supermarket. The surrounding areas offer lots of interesting places to visit although all require driving. The cottage itself has 3 light and airy bedrooms with beautiful views over the countryside, my toddler was continually amazed by all the farm animals. There are ducks and chickens as well as a large pond in the grounds of the cottage and lots of lovely space for children to run around in. Response: Thank you so much for your review we try to ensure that all our guests are comfortable and happy. |

Guestbook for La Touque The Cottage
The cottage is in a very quiet area surrounded by open farmland. There is plenty of room for kids to enjoy.
It has got a splash pool it is about 4ft deep which is shared with the other property in the grounds which is not a problem.
Our 4 children enjoyed the pool and garden immensely.( they were still in the pool at 9am before we went out for the day.)
The location is idyllic if you’re looking for a rural retreat.
What wonderful surroundings and how very peaceful. The house is very comfortable and we have had a memorable trips to Omaha beach,Paris,Bernay Market Orbec to name but a few. What a wonderful experience.
The gite is well equipped and the owners have made sure it’s a comfortable home from home.
We spent a very full week visiting the many attractions that are nearby.
