The Hampshire region

Hazel House is situated in Brockenhurst village in the centre of the New Forest. The New Forest, now a national park, is located in the county of Hampshire some 80 miles south west of London.

William the Conqueror decreed the New Forest to be preserved as royal hunting ground - a thousand years later the forest is still protected in its original state of ancient woodlands and open heathland. Wild horses and deer wander freely throughout this area of stunning, natural beauty.

There is something for everyone to enjoy in The New Forest - walking, cycling, horse riding or simply relaxing in a beautiful, natural environment. There is a wealth of things to do - visit local towns and villages or spend a day on some of the best beaches on the South coast.

You will be spoilt for choice for things to do from Hazel House. We are situated in the typical New Forest village of Brockenhurst where ponies, donkeys and highland cattle wander freely by the garden gate. The village street, 5 minutes walk away is thriving with everything you could need, butchers, bakers, green grocers, post office and a handy Tescos open till late. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Brockenhurst. Treat yourselves to a visit to The Pig, wonderful location, restaurant and kitchen garden.

The forest is on the doorstep. Hire bikes, join a pony trek or simply walk through the forest. A favourite walk to Bank about 5 miles through the forest brings you to The Old Oak Inn with roaring fires in the winter and outside dining on their home cooked food in the summer. There is a golf ourse in Brockenhurst and another at Lyndhurst. Some of the best beaches on the south coast are a short drive away. You can hop on the train which takes you to the Lymington ferry across to the Isle of White, stuck in a delightful 50's time warp.

Children love messing about in water, there is a steam passing by where hours can be spent catching minnows and climbing the overhanging trees.

Hazel House is quiet and peaceful with a very pretty garden and sunny patio. There is a conservatory which has a second dining table, a swing seat for relaxing and plenty of room as a playroom. The house is new but furnished in a relaxed and comfortable vintage style. The big kitchen has every appliance to prepare family meals, a useful utility room with washer and dryer and a dining area to seat up to 10 people.
