Broadwindsor area
Broadwindsor is an ancient place and according to the Domesday Book of 1086, before the Norman invasion "Windesore" was held by a Saxon called 'Bondi'. However, being on the route of the Great Ridgeway and surrounded by Iron-age hill forts, it was almost certainly occupied by the Romans, if only for its plentiful supply of water. Much later King Henry VIII raised "38 able-bodied men" for his militia.
The village has a pub with excellent food, a shop that has an amazing range of stock, a separate post office, a very interesting craft centre and a church originating from before the 12th century.
How to get there
From London and the South
Either: M3 - M27 - A31(Bere Regis) - A35 to Bridport - A3066 to Beaminster. Through the town - follow signs to Broadwindsor. Just before you enter the village turn left at the Craft Centre into Redland Lane. Broadmead House is the first house on the right after the Craft Centre.

A303 take the turning to Crewkerne (A356). A356 through Misterton beyond turn onto A3066 until signed to Broadwindsor B3164. Take the Beaminster road until you see the Craft Centre. Turn right into Redland Lane. Broadmead House is the first house on the right after the Craft Centre. By Car
From Bristol:
M5 to junction 25. South bound A358 to Chard. A30 to Crewkerne. A356 through Misterton beyond turn onto A3066 until signed to Broadwindsor B3164. Take the Beaminster road until you see the Craft Centre. Turn right into Redland Lane. Broadmead House is the first house on the right after the Craft Centre.
There are several bus companies operating services to Bridport in Dorset. There is a regular bus service from Bridport to Broadwindsor and other places. Taxis are available: 01460 77445 or 07736 642738 By Bus
London Heathrow Airport is about 3½ hours drive from Broadwindsor, while London Gatwick is about 4½ hours (depending on the traffic). The nearest airport is Exeter, which is about 1 hour's drive. Bristol Airport is about 1½ hours away. By Air

Further details indoors: On the ground floor, the lounge is generous with a separate dining room. The fully equipped kitchen has an impressive oven and hob. Ideal for catering for large groups. The utility room has a washing machine and tumble drier. On two floors above are 6 bedrooms sleeping 12 people, three of which feature super king double beds. There are two shower-rooms and one bath and shower-room. Outside, the garden is secluded and the terrace has garden tables and sun shades that can be used for alfresco meals.
Further details outdoors: Broadmead House is an outstanding base from which to explore west Dorset. It is close to important historic buildings and sites, fascinating towns and villages with a huge variety of shops as well as the world famous Jurassic Coast. Above all else, this is very beautiful unspoilt part of the Dorset countryside, where wonderful walking can be enjoyed and it is a tranquil, almost timeless place to unwind & re-charge.

Conditions
50% of the total cost is required as deposit and the balance is payable 4 weeks before arrival plus a security deposit of £100.00, refunded following a satisfactory inspection after departure.
Cancellations will be liable for full payment and you are strongly advised to take out insurance to cover this eventuality.
Weekly bookings have a Friday change over but this is flexible to suit individual requirements.
Children are welcome and there is no minimum age. A cot and high chair are provided free of charge.
We do not accommodate pets of any sort except genuine guide dogs for disabled people.
All linen and towels are provided.
The house is strictly non smoking throughout.
There is off-road parking on the property for six cars.
