We have many pictures of the problerms we encountered with this cottage which was not clean to say the least. Appliances were extremely dirty (stove/oven, freezer, washing machine) and therefore unusable (so no self catering here ). The washroom/ toilet was disgusting. Using different sites that the cottage was advertised on and viewing the pictures provided we thought we had ticked all our boxes only to find no phone, no shower, no parking space - all were advertised as included but not provided. No hot water during the day and loud boiler in the twin bedroom. Dangerous access to/from the master bedroom and black mold on the "pretty dormer window". A patio area that was covered in weeds with peeling paint on the patio table( I tried to sit out there one day and had to give up after 10 minutes - it was disgusting). We immediately started to look for another cottage after arrival which took us some time to find in the area (overseas visitors, cottage(s) availability and no phone etc.). Expensive holiday was ruined (time and money) and we spent most of the first week trying to find other accomodation as well as getting out/away from this dirty space. Secured another cottage in a different location and moved out on the Friday of the first week. No refund although we notified the owner by email advising there was a problem (too many to fix during our stay).
We were stunned by this review, as we did not hear from the guest until the end of the first week, where the guest requested a full refund citing the hand held shower over the bath being the deal breaker. When the refund was not forthcoming, he then claimed numerous other incorrect statements, as put in the review. The appliances are not old, the fridge was replaced last year, the cooker and washing machine are hardly used and are approx 7 years old. The courtyard is small and I cannot deny between us going we do get some weeds and I have painted the garden furniture as it was starting to peel in the sun. The furniture, bedding and towels are very good quality and replaced regularly. The parking is outside the cottage like in most English country villages.
I feel this review is vindictive and not at all reflective of our cottage or the experience fed back by any our other hundreds of guests. We have owned our cottage for 9 nine years, have many customers returning time and time again.
