How can anyone complain or leave a bad review about this place?
We had an amazing weeks holiday, the cottage is immaculate, spotless, well maintained and has everything you need for a perfect holiday. The hot tub is fantastic, the garden is beautiful and huge, the cottage is small, but tidy and well presented, i enjoyed every morning sitting out in the garden with a cup of tea in the sunshine, just listening to the birds singing. The peace and quiet and the local area is idyllic we only saw the owner once, he came to welcome us and say hi on the saturday evening, but who wants people in your face all the time, it was lovely to be left to our own devices and come and go as we pleased. The complimentary tea, coffee and sugar and the small bag of chocolates was a lovely touch. Thank you for a gorgeous holiday.
would 100% recommend to friends and family

“Absolutely Beautiful - A Relaxing Weekend Made Perfect”
I would 100% rate The Old Diary Cottages. They were immacutely presented in a gorgeous peaceful location. We stayed in the slightly smaller cottage of the 2 and for my partner and I , I would say there was more than enough space. The hot-tub is a lovely added bonus which we enjoyed on both nights of our stay. The location of the cottages are perfect for that relaxing weekend to get you away from the hussle and bussle of every day life. There are no pubs/places to eat locally so you will have to drive, however it is only a 5 minute drive and the scenary is so beautiful its nice to drive and see it all. The cottages are located on a farm which made it ideal for lovely walks in the country side, just make sure you take wellies ! Jon and family are lovely welcoming people and were ever so easy to approach. Overall I would strongly recommend this break to friends and family.

“Brilliant Little Cottage, Great Place to Stay”
Nice and cozy little cottage with an amazing hot tub!!
The cottage itself is equipped with everything you could need and is furnished very nicely.
“Cottage 1 : Superbly equipped, idyllic location, compact cottage with massive lawned garden ... and luxurious HOT TUB!!”

“Absolutely Fantastic cottage, location and very friendly owners”
Lovely cottage and amazing hot tub. We were greeted on arrival and given a warm welcome. Everywhere in the cottage and hot tub was immaculate and they had supplied basic essentials. Even the bed was very comfortable. There was lots of information about the local area and a visitors book where previous guests had given recommendations. Broadway is a beautiful village and would recommend the Broadway Hotel for food and drinks and also the Broadway Tower walk. We didn't experience any problems during our stay but we had lots of contact numbers if we needed anything. Brilliant stay and would definitely recommend and would love to visit again !
My boyfriend and I had a fab stay here. The cottage was very clean and modern. We were greeted and even invited to the farm's fireworks! The hot tub is great and a real treat.

“Fabulous retreat!”
We wanted, desperately, an escape from our busy lives in a pretty location, just for a couple of nights of peace and tranquillity... and that's exactly what we got!
I booked this weekend away as a much needed rest and that is exactly what we got. The accommodation was lovely, modern yet cosy, the shower was amazing but it went cold on us once! But to be honest it was only that happening and the wifi didn't really work that I could say wasn't wonderful, the rest truly was and we'd go back. I will say that as uh-mazing as the hot tub was, if you have sensitive skin there is a little too much chlorine, but we never asked if they could lower the level so again I can't moan. Broadway is magical, I will say that the big pub that everyone raved about for food in Broadway was actually somewhat over priced and underwhelming, they seemed annoyed at all the tourists and not at all welcoming and for what we paid for the roast, Toby cavery can do much better, so hunt around for a quieter one I think is the way forward.
We'd definately go back for a rest, lovely place and good price, many thanks :)
“Ideal as a base for a couple to explore the Cotswolds”
Very compact 1 bedroom cottage, but nicely furnished & decorated including the fully fitted kitchen and shower-room. Ideal location for a couple to use as a base for exploring the Cotswolds. (I stayed with my son and he slept on the sofa-bed, a bit cramped but we made it work ok. I had my dog with me too!) Shame we didn't get to use the hot tub, it rained most of the time we were there and although the tub is under cover the weather was a bit miserable.

“Beautiful Cottage & Surroundings”
On first impression, the cottage is amazing, everything you could need is there and it is so homely. We stayed in Cottage 2 From Fri 5th - Mon 8th Oct. First of all the positives - The surroundings are amazing, for either a walk, drive or cycle. Broadway is a lovely village and Broadway Tower is a must with its nuclear bunker. And well for the hot tub that was amazing!
Only two small negative I would have. - We read through the vistors book which is in the cottage and all the reviews said they recieved a bottle of wine and milk on arrival. Which we never got. However we just drove along to the shop and picked our own up. Secondly The owner never once came and welcomed us or showed us round even though he was on the farm as we drove in he just looked at us. However the couple who live in the Barn next door, came and welcomed us and showed us around. Also we had trouble connecting to the Wifi so Jon from the barn gave us his personal Wifi Password so could connect to his.
All in all we would return to the cottage and possibly rent out the two to open them up is a good idea.

“lovely stay”
stayed for 2 nights. Accommodation was very clean and finished to a high standard. Bathroom was large with double shower cubicle. Bed was very comfortable. Hot tub was superb and very relaxing. Will definitely return.
Myself, my partner and our dog stayed in cottage 2 in early September. We were immediately impressed with the accommodation. A spacious main living area, a large bathroom with separate bath and shower cubicle, a lovely clean bedroom and a beautiful, private garden complete with hot tub. The kitchen area was equipped with plenty of utensils and complimentary tea / coffee making facilities. There was even a bottle of wine in the fridge waiting for us!
On arrival we discovered that there was a problem with the hot tub but it was clear that everything was already being done to resolve the situation. I have mentioned this as a positive rather than a negative as it didn't affect our stay in any way and the staff could not do enough to sort the issue out for us.
The surrounding areas were beautiful. Our favourite place in particular was Bourton on the Water, a pretty village on the riverside with plenty of quaint shops and places to eat and drink. Broadway is quite close to the cottage and also worth a visit during the day or night.
Overall, a wonderfully relaxing place to stay and we will definitely be back!

“Enjoyable stay in great little cottage”
We really enjoyed our stay in this well equipped little cottage. The property was clean and tidy on our arrival. Whilst being small it's ideally suited for a weekend away. We were glad of the option of the hot tub which is under cover and not overlooked.
There are plenty of places to visit including nearby Broadway and a number of National Trust properties. The property has a folder of local attractions and a hand drawn map of a local walk (boots or wellies recommended).

“will definitely be back it was so nice”
Spent a full week in the slightly larger cottage with husband and 13 year old daughter. We arrived after travelling all day to find the most comfortable cottage. It was immaculate with gorgeous furnishings, fabulouse bathroom with an abundance of lovely towels, gorgeous private garden and amazing hot tub which we used every evening.Everything we needed was there. It was so peaceful and the area was beautiful with many lovely villages to visit. We ate in most evenings as it was so relaxing getting back to the cottage and relaxing in the hot tub before our meal then relaxing on the fab big sofa.We will definitely return sometime in the future-i have no negative comments at all. Thanks Darcy for the lovely bottle of chilled wine and your hospitality.
“Lovely little cottage, friendly service and very relaxing stay”
My partner and myself were looking for a little getaway cottage for a week so we can relax and forget all the troubles of work and study etc. And here we found it!
A very cozy little cottage (maybe a bit small for more than 2 people, but I understand you can book out the next cottage too and open up the space in between so it's not an issue, and there were only 2 of us so it wasn't an issue) with an incredibly big back garden, perfect for relaxing, sunbathing and BBQ.
It's not far at all from loads of things to do like seeing the local riverside town, equestrian activities, hiking, golf, wildlife parks and loads more. Very well situated indeed.
One slight and minor fault was that the Wi-fi connection kept cutting out, however the owners very kindly let us use their personal one as we had to look up University placement, so top marks!
Overall it was a very lovely cottage, with a great atmosphere and will be staying here again and will be recommending it to others! Thank you very much!
P.S. The hot tub - incredible!

“Cotswolds Family Holiday”
We had a great 5 days staying in the larger cottage with my parents and their puppy. The cottage itself is as good as it looks in the pictures and absolutely spotless.
The double bed was a good size and very comfortable, the bed linen again were spotless. My parents volunteered to use the pull out bed so they could share the kitchen/diner/lounge with the puppy, they said the bed was very comfortable and it looked a good size too. There's a good sized TV and wi-fi, the bedroom had it's own TV too. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils but was lacking in a cafetiere and there was only a fridge rather than fridge/freezer.
The bathroom is very roomy, separate shower, plenty of clean towels and a heated towel rail.
The garden was in full bloom and looked very pretty, the lawn had been freshly cut and it was all very well kept.
It was great to have the hot tub to use on an evening after days out walking and sightseeing around the numerous beautiful villages round that area, Broadway is a must for all tourists and only 4 miles away. We'd recommend the walk up to the tower as the views are stunning.
All in all we had a great time and would recommend the cottages to others.

“A wonderful retreat”
We booked this cottage so we could get away from it all and have some rest and relaxation. It couldn't have been more perfect! The cottage is superbly equipped for a cottage rental (including a very welcoming hot tub!) and the booking was very straightforward. The cottage is ideally positioned for discovering Broadway and other nearby Cotsolds towns such as Stow and Bourton on the Water. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to anyone, young and old!
The cottage was clean and very well equiped with a private enclosed rear garden which is ideal for dogs/children, we were made very welcome and had free run of the farm land, everyone we met were friendly and helpful and we would recommend it as the ideal place to stay for a totally relaxing break.

“Awful from start to finish”
Awful service, they didn't meet us on arrival or departure. When we finally met the owner later on in the first day she was very abrupt and seemed as if we were inconveniencing her. The cottage was not very clean, dust and hairs everywhere. The owners couldn't be bothered to put the heating on before we arrived (which only they can control from their property) despite them knowing we had a baby and toddler with us. later discovered an ant infestation in the kitchen- this was disgusting. The owner dropped off ant killer but never so much as smiled nor apologised. The owners carelessly let their guard dogs loose in the grounds when we returned to the cottage one evening and they aggressively attacked our car. We called the owners but they didn't answer. We had to drive around for half hour until the guard dogs went back into the owners's property. Sofa bed in the living room is awful and the property should never be counted as "sleeps 4". This property is suitable for a couple at best. Really really disappointed with this cottage and we do not recommend it.
Response: We have had many happy guests and I wish I could post all the lovely comments we have received. Somtimes you can't please everybody, but on this occassion the guests had not read the description of the property on the website and complained that the accommodation was not as they expected when they arrived. Unforunately I was away at a funeral when they arrived, otherwise I would have suggested they stayed elsewhere and I would have given them an immediate refund. It was clear that self catering didnt suit them, we don't like to impose on our guests but we are always there to sort out any problems and make sure are guests are happy. The cottage is always spotless and was nearly built in April and has been furnished to a very high standard. It's sad when people choose to write unfair reviews that were designed to be as damaging as possible. The nice reviews recieved by other quests are much more reflective of the enjoyable stays are guests have had.

“Lovely Cottage, Great Location and Nice Hosts”
We stayed in Cottage 2 which was wonderful - lovely big luxurious bathroom, wonderful decor throughout and great sized garden with huge hot tub under shelter and patio area. Bed was very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and showed us around the cottage upon arrival. The location was perfect too, on a lovely farm but within 5-10 mins of the stunning Broadway with all its nice pubs and restaurants. Would highly recommend this place!
Cottage was lovely, obviously new. We were not met by the owners at any stage during our break, we even spoke to the cleaner asking about nice walks for us and our dogs she was unable to assist but... more

They made us feel so welcome and were very helpful. The cottage was lovely and quite and the garden was huge. The farm was very beautiful and had some very friendly baby cows which was great. Broadway is beautiful and so is the rest of the surrounding areas of the cottage. Great resturants and pubs locally and even Frankie and Benies ! Would definately recommend as we had a great time!!!!
