The South East England region
Kent has so much to offer, with its beautiful beaches and countryside known as the Garden of England.
The historical City of Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral is only 20 minutes from Broadstairs by train, as well as Dover Castle, Deal Castle, Walmer Castle nearby, each with something unique to offer.
Whitstable is renowned for its seafood and Margate's Old Town and award winning Turner Gallery are worth a visit.
Golfing enthusiasts are well catered for with famous St Georges course at Sandwich and the perfectly located North Foreland course in Broadstairs.
The thriving town of Broadstairs is on the East Kent coast between Margate and Ramsgate.
Its Victorian heritage is evident through Charles Dickens' influence (a great Broadstairs lover), and offers something for everyone - craft fairs, funfairs, mini golf, ice cream parlours, one of England's smallest cinemas, quirky shops, cafes and restaurants, museums, pubs and bars.
Viking Bay is the main beach, offering all you'd expect from a seaside town, but other beaches are easily accessible by foot, bicycle, car or bus and are equally inviting. Joss Bay at nearby Kingsgate is famous for its great surfing and offers a surf school and kayak hire.
Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the Viking Trail with amazing coastal views on its 27 mile route between Margate and Ramsgate (including Broadstairs).
The famous Broadstairs Folk Festival takes place every August and the town is buzzing with a wide variety of gigs and bands indoor and outdoor, as well as extra entertainment for children. See www.broadstairsfolkweek.org.uk for dates.
The annual Dickens festival in June and food festival in October are definitely worth visiting too as well as the water gala in the summer.
