About the home
A luxury contemporary feel throughout the apartment offering all your creature comforts creating an environment that is home from home e.g. WIFI access, TV/DVD, Jacuzzi bath, washing machine, dishwasher etc.
With 2 double bedrooms it comfortably caters for 4 people, however due to the sofa that coverts to a very comfortable double bed it can additionally cater for 6 people although this may compromise the overall comfort as space will be more limited. It is very family friendly with the bonus of a private secure garden so plenty of outside space to play or simply relax at the end of the day on the comfortable garden sofa with a glass of something cold!
The apartment is situated in the sought after Dumpton Gap area of Broadstairs which means you are in a very central location with all amenities close by. The apartment is in a modern block which was built in 2005. It has secure underground parking, lift from the car park and easy access for wheelchairs / pushchairs.
The nearest beach is Dumpton Gap Bay which is only 5 mins away, The recently refurbished Sam's Beach Cafe is open generally from Easter - Oct where you can get great breakfasts, lunches, drinks and snacks. This bay also has toilet facilities to enable you to stay for the day if you so wish! You can then stroll along the esplanade via Louisa Bay which hosts another great beach cafe until you come to Viking Bay which is the main bay in Broadstairs.
Here you will find a large sandy bay with children's rides, bouncy castle etc, beach cafe, changing facilities and showers. Above Viking Bay is the promenade and bandstand where you can enjoy a whole range of bars, cafe's and restaurants, not to mention the infamous Morelli's ice cream parlour!

The South East England / Kent region

Located on the south east tip of Kent, Broadstairs offers a plethora of potential to holidaymakers. For those who like a boat trip there are nearby daily ferries to Ostend and Calais. For the golfer numerous award winning courses within a short drive, including Sandwich and North Foreland (handicap certificate required at certain courses). Families are treated to over 26miles of glorious golden sandy beaches. History hungry holidaymakers can feast on the delights of Deal, Dover Castle and the historic town of Canterbury - all accessible within a 40 min drive.
The bustling harbour of Ramsgate is a 5min drive, Margate, home to the new Turner Gallery is 15mins drive. Both offer regular summer events ranging from Water sports weekends to Red Devils displays.
Full details of all summer events in the area are available at The Beach House in the "Busy Broadstairs Booklet"
The Broadstairs / Dumpton Gap area
Broadstairs is considered to be the jewel in Thanet's crown, a very special place in 'The Garden of England'. A charming seaside town with a host of fabulous family friendly activities. For activities for children go to www.thanetkids.co.uk
Throughout the summer months, the ever popular Viking bay hosts daily Punch and Judy shows, and offers a small Victorian carousel, trampolines, bouncy castle and swing park. Nestled behind Viking Bay is a crazy golf course, suitable for both children and adults.
The family style sandy beaches of Broadstairs are very clean and offer fantastic rock pools, beach cafe's and toilet facilities.
Each bay has it's own unique character, Viking Bay - the popular tourist beach, Stone Bay - great family beach mainly used by locals who have their own beach huts, Joss Bay - surfers favourite, Louisa Bay - small pretty beach, tide dependant but always a bacon sarnie available from the beach cafe! And then we come to Dumpton Bay which is the nearest to the Beach House - We love this beach as it's quite quiet with mainly locals using it. The beach cafe is run by Mark and Leslie, a fantastic couple who always greet you with a smile! You can also walk along the beach from Dumpton Gap to Ramsgate (Tide dependent) which is a great stroll! They have just started having live music on occasional weekends which is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
When the weather is inclement, there's Revolution skate park with a climbing centre and surf school which offers day courses for children from as young as 3yrs. Learn to board, ski, climb, or scoot with the professionals in a safe and fun environment.
Joss Bay holds a blue flag award. The coast here has some of the best waves in the area so its no surprise it also has its own surf school. Kayaks can be hired.
The Viking Coastal trail is a fabulous cycle route from Minnis Bay to Pegwell Bay. Bikes can easily be hired and you can either opt for a day of cycling or a shorter ride along the coast.
Westwood Cross shopping centre (5mins from centre of Broadstairs) offers great shopping with Topshop, Marks and Spencer, TK Max, HMV, Waterstones and several good family style restaurants such as Ask Pizzeria and Nandos. There's also a large Vue multiplex cinema adjacent to Westwood, although Broadstairs itself boasts a tiny charming cinema the Palace which only closes on Christmas Day.
For the more mature holidaymaker, there are numerous walks and day trips in and around the area.
With the Dickins Festival (June), Folk Week (August) there really is something for everyone....not to mention some of the best fish and chips in the land.
Broadstairs also now hosts its own Food Festival in October, which features free tastings and cookery demonstrations by top chefs. For full details go to www.broadstairsfoodfestival.org

My and husband and I chose The Beach House to spend a long weekend in Broadstairs to enjoy the Folk Festival. The apartment is beautifully furnished with excellent amenities which made our stay very comfortable and relaxing. We started our weekend with a short walk to the local beach and had a cooked breakfast at the beach cafe and enjoyed the views of the Kent coast. We then took a leisurely walk along the coastline into Braodstairs. The atmoshpere during Folk Week was fantastic with a wide rang of music for all ages. We enjoyed watching a number of bands each evening accompanied by excellent beer and wine. There is a good choice of bars and restaurants in Broadstairs, all easily reached from the Beach House. Broadstairs is a fabuluous coastal town perfect for a long weekend which will also give you the opportunity to explore other small towns along the Kent coastline. The Beach House is a modern and fully equipped appartment, you will have a great time. |

Lovely, comfortable and chic apartment with the feeling of a 'home-from-home'. Brilliant location with an easy walk down to the beach and seafront of Broadstairs, which we thought had the charm and character of an old-fashioned seaside resort and really put us in the holiday mood. Also an ideal base to explore the other coastal towns of Kent. We chose to visit Whitstable this time, only 30 mins drive away, with some cute boutiques, art shops, restaurants and bars. JoJo's in Herne Bay was highly recommended to us by the locals and we will be booking a table for dinner there next time we visit. We will definitely book again and have recommended it already to family and friends. |
Guestbook for The Beach House
“Broadstairs is an old fashioned, traditional, British seaside holiday resort but without being tacky! We walked into Broadstairs from the apartment a few times each day, which was great not having to pile in and out of the car all the time in the heat. Then in the evening it meant we could all enjoy a drink and take the walk back, which is just as lovely at night along the lit promenade. You really have everything you need on the doorstep, the beach, shops, restaurants and not forgetting the fabulous Morelli’s ice-cream parlour. The apartment is very well equipped with all the mod cons and beautifully decorated. The garden is a lovely space and the underground parking with lift and automatic entrance caused hours of entertainment for the boys!!! We all had a brilliant week and can't wait to go again. Thank you Mark and Lorraine for sharing your holiday home with us and we are sure lots of happy holidays will be spent there by many, over the years to come”.

“After working all week our arrival at the apartment in Broadstairs was a joy to behold. The apartment is beautifully furnished with every amenity considered and catered for. Four of us had a very comfortable and relaxing stay for 2 nights where we were able to enjoy the restaurants of Broadstairs, but also cook a very well deserved breakfast. It is only a 10 minute walk away to the beach from the apartment where you can't help but admire the impressive coastline. We look forward to spending many more weekends in the apartment as it really is such a relaxing and peaceful place”.

We had high expectations when we set off for our stay at the apartment in Broadstairs from the pictures and detail on the website. On arrival those expectations were met and exceeded!! The apartment is outstanding and the photographs on the website can't do justice to the luxurious feel that has been created. It was lovely to have the personal touches that made the apartment so much more than a holiday bolt-hole, it truly had the comfortable feel of being a second home. Following the excellent advice in the '48 Hours' we were able to switch into holiday mode instantly taking a stroll along to Viking Bay from Dumpton Gap within a short time after arriving. We then went back to Dumpton Gap Beach the next day for the recommended bacon sandwich and cup of coffee. It was wonderful to leave the car at the apartment and be able to walk everywhere, this really made a huge difference to the stay here for us. Our short stay gave us a great feel for Broadstairs and the local area and after following the advice to stop at the cheese shop and for cupcakes in Whitstable on the way home, whet our appetite to get to know this area further. A return visit in inevitable! Many thanks.
Richard, Jill & Daisy Webb - Easter 2010
Having recently returned from your apartment in Broadstairs I thought that I’d like to drop you a line to thank you for 5 of the happiest days I’ve had in a very long time.
As you know I went along with my partner and my toddler, who celebrated her 3rd birthday while we were there.
Apart for the luxury and contemporary accommodation it was like a step back in time. All of my childhood holidays were spent in Cornwall on the beach and I always hoped to find a place where Charlotte could experience the same, really simple pleasures. Broadstairs was perfect!!
We found Broadstairs clean and friendly, great food, great atmosphere, and whilst there on St Georges night, very patriotic with Land of Hope and Glory etc playing from the bars on the ‘promenade’.
The weather was absolutely glorious for our entire stay and therefore the beach was busy but it still was comfortable and clean. The local even does a beer in a plastic glass which adds to the holiday spirit on the beach... don’t remember that from Cornwall!
We found the apartment fitted our needs perfectly.
When we arrived, at 10.30 at night, the temperature was great (important with a baby), I believe someone had been in to sort out the heating prior to our arrival.... thanks for that!!
The place was immaculately clean, all mod cons and very comfortable beds..... which became very important once the sea air started to hit!
Lovely to have such a pleasant, generous outside area to sit in, especially given that it’s an apartment.
Also, I found that I, as fussy mothers do, had packed for every eventuality and actually there was nothing I needed at all as everything was provided and in great condition.
We went and saw Mark at the bacon butty hut in the mornings as you suggested in your welcome pack... thanks... great tip! The pack was comprehensive but the weather was so great that we didn’t take advantage of anything other than the butty then a stroll round to the beach.
Anyway... I could ramble on for hours about the joys of our stay but suffice to say it was wonderful and I felt the need to drop a line and tell you so.
Thank you,
J Fitzgerald - April 2010
The apartment is in a very convenient position for the beach and town and is well equipped for a relaxing week or weekend break. With the secure parking and enclosed patio it enjoys a quiet location. An evening walk along the cliff top and promenade for something to eat in Broadstairs is a joy. Sam’s cake and coffee (or bacon sandwich!) at Dumpton beach is a lovely way to relax for a while.
There are views to enjoy, many interesting places to visit, safe cycling, clean beaches, plenty of safe walks all within easy reach.
Would we go again? – most certainly!
Mr & Mrs Jones, Cheshire - June 2010
What a fab few days! Great location and great apartment. Despite the weather not being great, there were lots of things to amuse all ages really close to home. A choice of beaches with great sandcastle sand and rock pools, and of course cafes. The apartment is like home from home – really well equipped with everything you need. Just hope for some sun next time!
