The Hideaway was completely renovated in 2011 to a very high standard throughout, providing superb accommodation for up to four people (we offer a travel cot for babies). A two bedroom duplex apartment within a Victorian townhouse, the Hideaway has many original features and is arranged over two floors. The living room, fully fitted kitchen/diner and bathroom are on the ground floor, with double and twin bedrooms and a separate WC on the first floor. The property has a small walled courtyard to the rear, in addition to the use of an extensive and beautifully maintained private garden for residents' use only. The garden offers ample space for children to play as a perfect alternative to the beach, or for a family barbecue after a busy day.

The Hideaway has gas central heating and is double glazed throughout. In addition to the newly fitted bathroom, we have a separate WC on the first floor. Due to the nature of the property, we regret that the Hideaway is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.

We will provide a travel cot for our youngest guests, which can be accommodated in either bedroom. We also have a high chair, baby monitor and toy box and books for younger children. A reliable local babysitter can be arranged on request - please enquire.

The Hideaway is situated in a very quiet lane in the oldest part of Broadstairs, with many flint-walled buildings dating back to the 18th century and earlier. There is a private shared garden for the sole use of local residents, in addition to the Hideaway's own private walled courtyard, with seating. The garden offers benches, a summer house, and plenty of space for a barbecue or to exercise children! As the garden is shared, we ask that guests use it with consideration and respect.

We are unable to offer off-street parking, but there is unrestricted parking in the road outside the Hideaway, and in neighbouring streets. In addition, there is a pay and display car park less than one minute's walk away. Thanet District Council offers a one week visitors permit for £20 which allows unrestricted parking in most pay and display car parks in the area. We can provide further information, or organise for you if you are interested.

Leeds Castle, and Deal and Walmer castles are also within easy reach, as is Whitstable where you can feast on local seafood, fresh off the boats, before exploring the town's wide range of interesting shops. Golfing enthusiasts will love Kent's award winning courses at Sandwich and North Foreland.

Broadstairs is on the High Speed Rail Link to London - with a direct link to Stratford International station, we are perfectly placed to visit the London 2012 Olympics. Kent has great transport links to London and mainland Europe, with making it the perfect starting point for a visit to England or abroad.

Broadstairs

Broadstairs is situated on the tip of the East Kent coast, nestling between Ramsgate and Margate and boasts no fewer than seven sandy beaches. Locals believe that Broadstairs has its own microclimate, and is officially one of the sunniest and driest parts of the country!

Broadstairs has a seafaring past and is today a charming and unspoilt seaside resort - many remnants of our Victorian heritage can be found throughout the town. During the summer months, Viking Bay attracts families for its old-fashioned funfair and swingboats, punch and judy shows and fireworks displays, while neighbouring Stone Bay has fantastic rock pools. Nearby Joss Bay has some of the best waves in the area, with its own surf school and kayaks for hire.

The Hideaway is situated in the heart of Broadstairs' historic centre, amidst flint-walled houses dating from the 18th century and earlier, and is no more than a couple of minutes' walk from two wonderfully sandy beaches and a diverse mix of restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes, ice cream parlours, shops and museums. When you're ready to leave the beach, Broadstairs offers many other attractions - the Palace Cinema, one of England's smallest with just 112 seats, mini golf, Helter Skelter, an indoor play centre for children under 8, Morelli's, an original 1950's ice cream parlour and many independent and quirky shops.

Older children will love Revolution, an indoor skatepark for skateboards, rollerblades and BMX. Why not learn about Charles Dickens' love of Broadstairs at the Dickens House museum? Westwood Cross retail park offers great shopping with stores such as TKMaxx, Debenhams, Monsoon, HMV, TopShop and Marks and Spencer, a multiplex cinema, casino and restaurants.

Broadstairs fourth annual food festival will take place in October 2012 and is a showcase for the best that Kent has to offer, with demonstrations by renowned local chefs, free tastings and stalls by local producers. We also host an annual Dickens festival each June celebrating Broadstairs' most famous visitor, with a water gala during the summer holidays.

Walk to Ramsgate along the coastal path to visit England's only Royal Harbour, with great waterfront bars, restaurants and cafes, or walk the Pugin trail to explore the venerated architect's work. The Turner Contemporary art gallery is now open on Margate's seafront with exhibitions by JMW Turner and Tracey Emin during 2012. Margate's Old Town is quickly becoming a mecca for fans of vintage and retro clothes, furniture, contemporary design and cupcakes, with independent shops opening all the time! Cycle the Viking Trail from Minnis Bay to Pegwell Bay to explore our unspoilt coastline and nature reserves.

"Great value in a great place"

We are a family of four - children aged 11 and 9. The Hideaway was easily big enough for us all; the rooms are spacious and nicely done. The flat has all that you need and is well equipped. We did not really use the 'secret garden' but it was nice to know it was there. We had not been to Broadstairs before and had a great time - the Hideaway is very well located. There is plenty to do for all tastes. Clare was very helpful with all of the booking arrangements and everything was very easy.

"A Hidden Treasure!"

We have visited The Hideaway many times, for all occasions and during all seasons. Many New Years Eves have been spent in Broadstairs whilst staying at The Hideaway and most recently a Diamond Wedding Anniversary. We have always found the accommodation to be most comfortable and during those winter months - most warm! It is situated within walking distance of Broadstair's bars and restaurants and the owners are most accommodating. Out of choice we would not stay anywhere else in Broadstairs!

"Perfect for a long weekend away"

Lovely little maisonette, perfect for a long weekend away. Its located in the heart of the action in Broadstairs a couple of minutes walk from the beach and good restaurants. Was lovely and warm, clean, quiet, tucked in a cosy little cul de sac and had everything you could want in terms of kitchen, games, movies, broadband, Tv etc. No complications, no fuss. Couldn't recommend in more highly. Has a 2nd bedroom so would be fine if you have a couple of kids too.

"Lives up to its name – a perfect little hideaway""

The Hideaway is just that. A wonderful little place just off the beaten track Broadstairs track. Tucked away down a charming cul de sac, it's a stone's throw from the beach the promenade and all the excitement yet completely private. Ideal for small children, too

"Home Away from Home . . . And Maybe Even Better!"

I have just returned home from a long weekend at The Hideaway with my husband and nine-month-old son. What a wonderful place to stay! Off a quiet cul-de-sac just minutes from two beautiful beaches and many restaurants, the location was ideal. The private garden across the street is lovely and provided a great space for my son to practice his crawling skills! The Hideaway was immaculate and extremely well equipped, with everything we could ask for. This was our first overnight trip with our baby and we were a little nervous, but with a high-chair, travel cot and baby monitor provided, it all went smoothly.

We will definitely be returning and I have already recommended The Hideaway to my friends!
