The Broadstairs area
A stroll around Broadstairs is a journey of discovery with a lovely surprise around every corner. Our most famous resident was Charles Dickens who spent much time here, writing many of his classic novels here. Visit the Dickens Museum and watch out for costumed characters during our annual Dickens Week (June)!
Walk around the Thanet coastline to explore our beautiful beaches and bays, each with its own character. Broadstairs' main beach is the unspoilt Viking Bay, no more than a minutes walk away from Sunshine Villa, where you can still see much of Broadstairs' Victorian heritage. Viking bay has a small harbour with cafes and giftshops, with plenty of rockpools for crabbing and exploring. An old fashioned beach funfair complete with helter skelter and swingboats, and a traditional punch and judy show twice a day in high season means that there's plenty to keep everyone entertained. The Pavilion offers beachside drinks and lunches and you don't have to walk far to find fish and chips to eat on the beach!
Joss Bay is more rural and offers great surfing opportunities (check out Joss Bay Surf School), whilst Botany Bay is quieter and more secluded and can feel a million miles from anywhere - absolute bliss when you want to laze around and recharge your batteries. Drive south to Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve for birdwatching and wild ponies.
Although Broadstairs has kept much of its old fashioned charm and tranquility, we have a vibrant calendar of events ranging from the annual Dickens Festival (June), Water Gala (June) and Folk Week (Aug) to a great free summer entertainment programme with a weekly firework display during the school summer holidays. Broadstairs also hosts its own annual Food Festival in October, featuring local producers and restaurants, with free tastings and cookery demonstrations by top chefs. For full details go to www.broadstairsfoodfestival.org
There are a mouth-watering number of restaurants, bistros, cafes and pubs to choose from - you could eat your way around the world.
Visit Ramsgate's Royal Harbour for a taste of the Mediterranean (on a sunny day!), to take out a boat for seal watching or sea fishing, or just to watch the boats from its many cafes and bars. Ramsgate and Margate host
their own annual festivals and events - go to www.visitthanet.co.uk for more inspiration.

“Lovely cosy base for a visit to Broadstairs”
Sunshine Villa was a perfect choice for our extended family holiday. There were 8 of us and we had plenty of space to cook, eat, sleep and relax after a busy day on the Kent coast. The house is less than a minute's walk to the seafront and although it is a cut through from a lovely park and car park it is a very quiet location. There is a fabulous butcher and bakery just around the corner which provided very inexpensive breakfasts.
There is room for a couple of cars on the driveway, so long as you are a confident driver, but we didn't have any trouble getting a space in the street also.
We would all thoroughly recommend the house and the location.
Response: Thankyou for your review we hope you will come and stay with us again.

“Fabulous House and location. Extremely well equipped and clean.”
I booked Sunshine Villa for a weekend away for my sisters and mother in April. The house is just a short stroll from the sea and restaurants. The house is huge and would easily take a large group of friends, it was spotlessly clean and very well equipped so that you would not need to take anything extra with you. My sister liked her bed so much she wanted to take it home.
Response: Thank you for your lovely review. We look forward to you staying again with us.

“Great location, lovely house.”
Came to Broadstairs for the Blues Bash and, for a large party like ours, the house was great - plenty of space, separate bathrooms and comfortable beds. The house is a stone's throw away from the shops and pubs which was just the thing we wanted. Easy to drop back to the house, chill out, and then back to the bands! Will come again.
Response: Thanks for your review so glad you have already booked for 2014. We look forward to you staying with us again

“Fantastic upmarket central location”
We had a fantastic girlie weekend at this holiday cottage. The property is excellent quality, with lovely original features yet modern and up to date. Kitchen was really well equipped and it was lovely to have some essentials left by the owner to welcome us. Location is fantastic, a minutes walk to resturants, pubs, bars and the seaside. Also close to a large shopping centre - essential for any girlie weekend! Couldn't recommend it more highly!

“SO warm and clean”
We have had a great weekend in this lovely house, it was warm and very clean, beds also very comfortable. We will certainly make a return visit, maybe when it's warmer, worse storms ever this weekend, but we still had a great time. So many restaurants to choose from, and the shoppings great.

“An ideal getaway to the coast”
An ideal property for our growing family it offered all the facilities of our own homes. The children loved the play room with all of the toys and the near location of the beach. We all appreciated the comfortable beds and the high quality bed linen and the cleanliness of the property. The bread, milk and butter (starter pack) was really appreciated. Our family really enjoyed it and we wouldn't hesitate to book Sunshine Villa again.
“Fabulous house in Broadstairs stones throw from beach, shops, pubs &[--] restaurants”
The house has such character & looks as if it has recently been refurbished. The room sizes are generous so we found ample space for the 2 of us, 2 children & partners plus 3 grandchildren. We had some memorable bbq's, the fish from Fruits de Mer was great, Majestic Wines is just outside Broadstairs & Viking Bay, a short walk away, is a magnificent sandy beach great for children & beach games. The stroll along the cliff top promenade above the beach is fab too with a characterful selection of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, ice cream bars, band stand etc.

“Lovely house in centre of town location”
This is a lovely house which has been decorated very tastefully and has lots of lovely touches. We book with extended family and we all had a fabulous week together in Sunshine Villa. The house is very centrally located and very close to the beach.

“Lovely big house perfect for 2 small children and grandparents.”
We had a great week's holiday and the house was perfect for two small children, parents and grandchildren. The great weather certainly helped our experience but regardless the house had ample living space for the six of us and has been decorated in both a stylish and thoughtful way. In particular our eldest is already missing "the playroom in Broadstairs". Would thoroughly recommend to anyone thinking of a stay in the area.
The house is well located, only a couple of minutes' walk from the main beach and close to loads of shops and restaurants - and excellent ice cream shops. But since it is down a cul de sac there was no problem with road noise. The street does get quite parked up, but there is off street parking for one medium-sized car.
The house was clean and well presented. Everything is of decent quality. Even the TV was better than expected.
This could be a good place for a couple of families with young children or for a bunch of friends for a getaway.

“A really great house for large group with or without children.”
Came across Sunshine Villa by chance when looking for a large property to accommodate six adults and three children comfortably, and what a great find it was. The property was spotless and very well furnished, and having a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine was much appreciated. A lot of thought has gone into providing toys and games for children of all ages which is essential for our unpredictable climate!. Sandy Viking Bay is a few minutes stroll away, and there is an abundance of restaurants and cafes to suite all tastes. Finally, a visit to Broadstairs is never complete without an ice cream at Morelli's, A great holiday was had by all, and we were sad when it was time to go home.

“Lovely accommodation”
Lovely place to stay - very clean and tidy - and only a very short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants.
“Sunshine Villa - fantastic place to stay, even when it's raining!”
We took our 5 grandchildren to stay at Sunshine Villa and, despite the weather, we all had the best time ever. The house is very well equipped - a real home from home and as it's so light and airy it has a real seaside feel to it. It's only a quick 5 minute walk to the beach, pubs and restaurants so everything is covered. There's great information available in the house for all the local attractions etc. The younger children enjoyed the playroom and dressing up clothes, and the elder ones were able to chill out and do their own thing as it's a very safe place to be. We'll definitely recommend Sunshine Villa to our friends and will stay again. Thanks

“Perfect place to stay in Broadstairs!”
I was looking to book a place in Broadstairs from Australia for two children and four women, so as none of us were couples we needed a lot of separate beds. We also could only stay for 3 nights- a lot of places seemed to want a minimum of a week. Sunshine Villa was perfect because the bed configuration worked perfectly, it was central, we could book 3 nights and the house looked gorgeous in the pictures! Needless to say, it didn't disappoint. Its location is great and the house is beautifully fitted out with everything you need for a self catering holiday. We were all impressed by the comfort of the beds and there is lovely bedding. Although there is only one car space, there is a (paying) carpark that backs onto the road which always had lots of spaces and where you could park overnight. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay in Broadstairs.

“Restful,luxurious stay!”
Had a late booking, weekend stay at 'Sunshine Villa',after a planned camping trip was rained off. How happy we were that we were not in a wet tent!....Instead we enjoyed a four star, four bedroom, comfort fest with everything that you could possibly need on hand. Great service from Janette, fabulous location, great food nearby and the beach within two minutes. Would suit friends, couples, extended families and even as a peaceful retreat to just relax, this place has it all. Good vibe, great style,DO IT!
Response: Thank you very much for your review. I am glad you had a great time. We look forward to welcoming you back again. Yes and its much better than camping.
“Beautiful holiday house in perfect location by the beach!”
The house was beautifully decorated, lovely white bed linen and towels, cute bunting and well equipped. The toys in the playroom were a bonus for the kids and wifi for the adults! We went to the beach, ice cream parlour, lovely local Italian restaurant, had fish and chips and a great afternoon at the family workshop at the Margate Turner Gallery. Plenty to do for families and we would love to return in the summer!

“Perfect place to celebrate New Years”
The house really s a ray of sunshine. Even though the weather was typical England we felt warm and welcome on a rrival at the house. The decor is inviting and quirky. The kids immediatly found the play room and was great. We had no battles over bedrooms as they were all lovely. The kitchen was fully equiped and we had a lovely afternoon cooking cakes and chillin. Would highly recommend!!!!
Sunshine Villa is a beautifully decorated family house, it felt like a home from home. There was plenty of space and the games room was great for the children to hang out in. The wooden floors made it a perfect place to have the dog. The well fitted kitchen meant we could have a some great dinners in, yet the location was super for eating out in some lovely Broadstairs restaurants. This part of Kent is truly beautiful with so much to do. We had a really lovely family holiday :-)

“Just like home, but better!”
We all loved this house and felt immediately at home there and inspired by the decor. It was warm and cosy, with all the bits and bobs necessary to make it seem homely. The spaciousness was great for us and we particularly enjoyed the family bathroom. The kids room would be so welcome to parents, I imagine. It's location is great - central yet quiet. Broadstairs is perfect for a seaside break and seems to have lots of friendly locals. A total hit!

“Beautiful house, great location.”
We spent a wonderful week in Sunshine villa, the house exceeded our expectations with everything and more provided. The location was very good, only a short walk to the beach. Shops and restaurants were also within easy walking distance. Janette the owner sent us details of places to visit and recommended restaurants which we found very useful.Hopefully we will visit Sunshine Villa again.

“Great layout & great location”
Our party consisted of a couple with twin babies aged 3 months and a couple with a baby aged 7 months. Layout was fantastic as we could have a floor each...the first and second floors each had a twin bedroom double bedroom and bathroom.
Location fantastic....only downside was that the road the property was on was very parked up and narrow but there is space for one car on the front of the property. Also the shaver points did not work on either floor.
Great takeaways, pubs and the beach all within 5 mins walk.
Very welcoming (and cosy) home in the centre of Broadstairs. Great location for families with young children in search of easy access to beach and kid friendly restaurants. The only negative is the incredibly early morning noise of seagulls - and, of course, this is not the fault of the owners of the property or the property itself. It's just a reality of the location.

“Beautiful House in a fantastic location”
The house is very spacious with plenty of room to relax and a large eating area were we all enjoyed family meals. It is Beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. “Lovely house in great central location, only 2 minutes from the beach”
A very comfortable house, with beautifully decorated bedrooms, in a perfect spot just round the corner from all the shops and restaurants of Broadstairs, and only a very short walk to the beach. You can even see the sea from the top bedroom windows! I spent a few days there in July with a friend and our 4 teenage daughters and we had a great time. If I was going to stay in Broadstairs again, I would definitely try to book this house. Highly recommended.
