With fast rail links to Ashford International and Ebbsfleet International, Europe is easily reached on Eurostar. The port of Dover is only 30 minutes drive away where you can hop on a ferry to France, making lunch in France a real possibility. Don't forget your passport!
Historic Canterbury is only a 30 minute drive away, with it's spectacular cathedral, city walls, restaurants, shops and parks. You can take a boat trip on the river to see the sights from a different perspective.
Step back in time at one of our nearby castles - Dover, Deal, Walmer, Leeds and Rochester Castles are all easily reached by car in under an hour.
Kent is the Garden of England and our extensive coastline boasts an array of blue flag award winning beaches and thrilling watersports. Explore our beautiful countryside, discover country lanes, orchards, vineyards and oast houses. England's oldest county is up to the minute though, with leading edge galleries, theatre and entertaining night life giving you so many things to do. Kent boasts outstanding golf clubs, including the famous St Georges at Sandwich.
A stroll around Broadstairs is a journey of discovery with a lovely surprise around every corner. Our most famous resident was Charles Dickens who spent much time here, writing many of his classic novels here. Visit the Dickens Museum and watch out for costumed characters during our annual Dickens Week (18-24 June 2011)!
Walk around the Thanet coastline to explore our beautiful beaches and bays, each with its own character. Broadstairs' main beach is the unspoilt Viking Bay, no more than a few minutes' walk away from the Boat House, where you can still see much of Broadstairs' Victorian heritage. Viking bay has a small harbour with cafes and giftshops, with plenty of rockpools for crabbing and exploring. An old fashioned beach funfair complete with helter skelter and swingboats, and a traditional punch and judy show twice a day in high season means that there's plenty to keep everyone entertained. The Pavilion offers beachside drinks and lunches and you don't have to walk far to find fish and chips to eat on the beach!
Joss Bay is more rural and offers great surfing opportunities (check out Joss Bay Surf School), whilst Botany Bay is quieter and more secluded and can feel a million miles from anywhere - absolute bliss when you want to laze around and recharge your batteries. Drive south to Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve for birdwatching and wild ponies.
Although Broadstairs has kept much of its old fashioned charm and tranquility, we have a vibrant calendar of events ranging from the annual Dickens Festival (June), Water Gala (June) and Folk Week (Aug) to a great free summer entertainment programme with a weekly firework display during the school summer holidays.Broadstairs also hosts its own annual Food Festival Sept/ Oct, featuring local producers and restaurants, with free tastings and cookery demonstrations by top chefs. For full details go to www.broadstairsfoodfestival.org
There are a mouth-watering number of restaurants, bistros, cafes and pubs to choose from - you could eat your way around the world.
Visit Ramsgate's Royal Harbour for a taste of the Mediterranean (on a sunny day!), to take out a boat for seal watching or sea fishing, or just to watch the boats from its many cafes and bars. Ramsgate and Margate host
their own annual festivals and events - go to www.visitthanet.co.uk for more inspiration.

A lovely bungalow in a perfect location close to the town and beach. Absolutely ideal for the dogs. Great Restaurants in the town as well.

"Fab place by the sea"
This is a great little bungalow by the sea! Perfect location for a weekend in Broadstairs. The place was so clean and had everything you would need for a weekend stay! The only thing I would say is this place is not great for 5 people. The z bed is a small very old camp bed with a very thin mattress which we actually didn't use and made up the setee instead. I would suggest this would only be ideal for 4 people.

"We would definitely stay here again"
We had a great holiday. the Boathouse was lovely and clean with everything we needed. Located very near Viking Beach, and a bus service along the coast, there is a convenience store just round the corner, and butchers, bakers, fruit shops and a Tesco within walking distance, and also restaurants, coffee shops and ice-cream parlours, though the street itself was quiet. There are a couple of reasonably private outside seating areas.

Location is everything in Broadstairs. This detached property in quiet location with a car parking space so close to Viking Bay beach and the town centre is a rare opportunity. Accommodation itself is comfortable and very well equipped. Would highly recommend this holiday rental.
Thank you for taking time to do a review for me. I hope you will come back and stay with us again in the future.

"Fabulous bungalow, 5 mins from everything! A Broadstairs gem."
Lovely bungalow, all mod cons, fantastic shower and extremely comfy bed. Nice lounge/diner and able to sit in the sun on the garden furniture outside. Nice little sun trap in the mornings. Very well looked after, clean and has everything you could need.
Excellent location, access to beach, bandstand and mini golf within a few minutes. There's even a corner shop!
High street not far either, very accessible.
Had lovely doggie walks from Louisa Bay along to Dumpton Gap and could take her off lead on beach there. Found a lovely park too think it was King George VI memorial park. This houses the Italianate greenhouse there too, which was nicely unexpected. Great little kiosk in the park selling hot food and ice creams!
Perfect! Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.
Thank you for your lovely review. I am glad you had a great holiday.

"Accommodation was warm, clean, comfortable and ideally situated."
The bungalow was well equipped and tastefully decorated and well situated with shops, restaurants and bars all close by and the beachfront at the end of the road. Off street parking was very handy as there are parking restrictions although width of gateway tested my driving skills. The welcome pack was much appreciated.

This is a nice bungalow in the middle of the town with all amenities within walking distance.
There were a lot of foreign students from the English language school on Granville Road (which is behind the bungalow) which made the town a little overcrowded at times, but on the whole they behaved well.

"Very cosy and comfortable and in a great location!"
We stayed at the boat house with our 6 year old and 2 year old daughters, who both thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The house is kitted out very thoughtfully with everything you could possibly need! Bathroom and kitchen are both clean and big enough for a family. Our elder daughter really enjoyed looking at all the trinkets and decorations in the house, which really added to its charm! Great location also, only 2 mins away from Viking Bay and really near the park too.

"Excellent location, facilities and furnishing. Just right for us and dog, Ollie."
We love Broadstairs with its long, flat promenade and excellent restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops. Location of The Boat House was ideal for dog walks, takeaways and meals out. Also is very central for all amenities. The weather was kind to us. We enjoyed visits to Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay. We would very much like to return in the near future.
