The West Country region
With lush rolling hills, green lanes and golden beaches, it is easy to see why Devon is such a popular holiday destination. Whether you want to soak up its stunning scenery, try one of its many activities or indulge in some fabulous food, Devon is an ideal destination for a truly memorable self catering holiday.
In September South Devon hosts a walking festival with a wide variety of activities taking place. For more information on the festival please see http://www.southdevonwalkingfestival.co.uk/.
Brixham is a quaint fishing town and with its cafés, bars, shops and restaurants, including the fish restaurants serving the daily local catches; it’s no wonder this is a favourite destination for people of all ages.
While fishing is Brixham’s main industry, it is also reinventing itself as an upmarket tourist resort, with quality food shops such as the Brixham Deli, cafés such as The Bay Coffee House, and restaurants such as Bistro 46. The focal point of the harbour gives the town a continental feel, especially in the summer, when you can sit outside and enjoy fish freshly caught that very morning.
Berry Head Nature Reserve is one or Torbays most important nature sites and offers breathtaking views across the South Devon Coastline. The South West coast path can easily be joined in Brixham and is a delight for seasoned ramblers and amateurs alike.
