Home description

Berry Bush Cottage is a charming 2 bedroom (sleeps 4) holiday cottage discretely situated in a quiet road just a short stroll from all of Brixham's amenities. Having been built over 100 years ago it now benefits from double glazing, central heating and a fully fitted kitchen with a bright and comfortable décor throughout. It has its own private driveway for parking 2 cars along with a small, very private rear courtyard.

Whether you want an action packed or totally relaxed time, Brixham has it all. There are many beaches and coves to explore, and most are within walking distance from Berry Bush Cottage.

Eating out ranges from fish and chips on the harbour wall to ala carte restaurants, with family friendly pubs a plenty. Regular boat and fishing trips from the harbour along with the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway make for the perfect way to fill a day.

The young or just the young at heart will enjoy a day at Quaywest Waterpark, while Churston Golf Club is a short dive away for the more sporty.

And if that’s to energetic spend the day crabbing on the harbour wall.

The West Country / Devon region

Generations have been enchanted by the charm and romance of Brixham, a colourful and bustling fishing port at the southern end of Torbay. The hilly town is built around the central harbour area, which remains the lifeblood of this quaint historic town.

Vibrant fishermen's cottages gaze out across the port and the fishing trawlers below. The trawler was invented in Brixham back in the 19th century and today they share the harbour with a replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship, the Golden Hind, a popular tourist attraction and focal point of the town.

Brixham remains one of the UK's busiest fishing ports and every year, over ten thousand tonnes of fresh fish and crustaceans land on the quays.

Brixham area

The nearby statue of William of Orange is another hint to the rich and diverse history the town boasts. The Hymn, "Abide With Me" was written in Brixham, and there are endless tales of smugglers and pirates to be unearthed by the inquisitive.

Have a relaxing drink by the Harbour...

There are plenty of cafes and unusual shops to be discovered as you explore the charming streets and alleys, while there is no end of traditional pubs willing to reward you with an ale or glass of wine at the end of a busy day sightseeing.

Of course, the best way to experience the allure of Brixham is to take one of the many boat trips and enjoy the commentary - with the added charm of a Devonian accent. You'll learn plenty about the rich heritage and history of the area, whilst also returning with amazing photographs of your nautical adventures.

Brixham is blessed with some of the most stunning coastal walks in the UK, and no visit would be complete without a climb to the cliff-top nature reserve of Berry Head, past Breakwater Beach and Shoalstone seawater pool.
