The English Riviera region

The jewel in Devon's crown, the South Hams of Devon is a scenic region to explore. An area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' that encompasses picturesque estuaries and a stunning coastline with miles of unspoilt beaches and hidden coves to a lush hinterland that extends to the wild untamed heathland of Dartmoor, there is variety for all. From the richly wooded Dart Valley and the historic deepwater port of Dartmouth all the way to Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island, you can discover the charm of charismatic coastal villages and towns.

Brixham

The picture perfect, ancient harbour of Brixham holds a timeless appeal, cocooned by colourful cottages that line the surrounding hillside overlooking the busy port where fisherman land their daily catch. A bustling town with a fine variety of shops and restaurants, including excellent fish n'chip shops serving freshly caught produce. Brixham continues to be a chosen destination for many, flanked by the long sandy beaches of the Torbay coastline to the East, and the maritime town of Dartmouth to the West. The area holds much appeal for families where there is an abundance of entertainment and days out on the doorstep including Paignton Zoo, Splashdown Waterpark, the UK's largest outdoor waterpark, and the Dartmouth and Kingswear Steam Railway. For walkers and those who wish to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the coastline, take a walk up to Berry Head, a country park and National Nature Reserve, and home to a variety of wildlife and history.
