Parkham View is ideally located with the Brixham shops, quay and promenade just a few minutes level walk. Simply but comfortably furnished, the apartment offers excellent value for money for up to 2 people. There is parking for one car and on street parking close by.

New for 2013 is a lovely sun terrace with seating and sunshine right through to the evening (I have organised the terrace and the seating and hope for the sunshine). The terrace is large and covered with modern soft tiles (like in a kids playground) so is comfortable to walk on and perfect for sunbathing!

Brixham has much to offer you as a holiday destination and the whole area caters for all requirements from a cream tea on the quayside to the ever popular crab fishing, go-cart racing, adventure parks, beaches, pools and, of course, wonderful walks, gardens, museums and a long and fascinating history.

The apartment has been completely redecorated, carpeted and with new furniture for 2012. The shower room as been fully tiled, has a new corner shower unit with electric shower and the floor has been refitted with vinyl laminate.

Internet access via wifi is now installed for 2013 and I am providing bed linen and towels all for the same price as before.

Please note that, although there is only a 2 minute level walk into town, the apartment in on the top floor of a 3 story property and so is not suitable for anyone unable to climb 2 flights of internal stairs. The parking area is up 1 flights of outside steps at the back of the property.

The West Country region

Torbay is famous for its beautiful countryside and lovely climate. It is known as the English Riviera and combines the big town attractions of Torquay with the Victorian sea-front with lively pier of Paignton and the charm and character of the fishing port of Brixham.

With lush rolling countryside, picturesque villages and golden beaches, it is easy to see why Devon is such a popular holiday destination. Whether you want to soak up its stunning scenery, try one of its many activities or indulge in some fabulous food, Devon is an ideal destination for a truly memorable self catering holiday.

Brixham

Brixham is the oldest village in the English Riviera situated in the south west of the country. Brixham is one of Britain's busiest fishing ports and the harbour is always full of activity and interest. At the same time, Brixham is charming with narrow streets lined with cottages and the quayside with it's many pubs and restaurants. The harbour, yacht marina and Breakwater beach are linked with a lovely promenade so there is plenty to explore.

Away from the harbour you can lose yourself in a maze of narrow winding streets. Within walking distance from the town centre you will find some of the areas most spectacular scenery, sandy beaches and secluded coves which give way to the towering cliffs of Berry Head - offering breathtaking views of Torbay and the English Channel.

Lots of pleasant walks from apartment no need to use car. If looking for downside it would be there can be traffic noise during day . Apartment has all you need plus pleasant outside area to sit . Good value for money

Excellent apartment, close to town and amenities. Would stay there again. However not suitable for disabled and elderly due to hills, stairs and steps. You must like the sound of seagulls!

"A sunny and well resourced apartment, just minutes walking distance from Brixham harbour and town centre."

Parkham View Top is a tastefully decorated apartment, with far more features than I expected when I arrived for my out of season stay. Though just one bedroom, it has a spacious and airy feel, and is perfectly situated for walking to the local sights and amenities - no car required!

The lounge is beautifully bright - a real sun trap, even in the winter months. The bedroom has plenty of wardrobe space and an extremely comfortable (in my opinion!) double bed. The small but fully functioning galley kitchen, is well equipped, with oven, hob and microwave. The standalone shower cubicle in the bathroom is luxuriously spacious, adding considerably to the comfortable feel of the apartment. There's a washing machine, fridge, separate freezer (a real bonus!) and a rotary line in the garden for drying laundry. The garden's small patio area is another sun trap, with benches providing a peaceful, private and airy location for that evening glass of wine...

The apartment is just minutes walk from Brixham harbour, with the town's pedestrianised main street on route - including 3 convenient little supermarkets! I hadn't been to this part of Devon before, but I've discovered Brixham to be a stunning destination, full of surprises and history. It is a working fishing port, which I think keeps the town alive and authentic rather than stuck in time, whilst keeping the attractive 'chocolate box' tourist appeal. The replica Golden Hind moored in the harbour is a landmark feature and provides a scenic backdrop for the numerous coffee shops, pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as the market stalls. From here, picturesque coves, boats and lapping sea are only a 20 minute gentle stroll in either direction.

Back at Parkham View, it's only fair to mention the steps. At the back, narrow and rather steep steps make slightly awkward access down from the car parking area. And, this being the top floor of 3, there is also an internal staircase to consider, which leads down to the front door of the building. If you have significant mobility problems you may struggle - although a couple of my elderly visitors (one of whom uses a walking stick) didn't have a problem. In any case, once you're down to street level it's a very flat and walkable route to the shops and the harbour. And on a more poetic note, steps are generally quite a feature in Brixham, providing quirky little hidden shortcuts between many shops and houses. Very pretty. And keeps you fit!

During my extended stay I had the added pleasure of meeting the owners of Parkham View, who are extremely friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I look forward to return visits in the future and would definitely recommend this apartment as a base for exploring Brixham and Torbay.

"Cozy Top Floor Flat"
