The West Country region

Brixham is in my opinion, the best place to visit, I was born here, and lived here 24 years. It combines a busy fishing town,as seen on TV,with glorious beaches, great restaurants and always things to do. You can do fishing trips, golf, sailing, coastal walks,Quay West water park(brilliant),lazer war games,go karts, pirate days (every week),a zoo 10 min drive away and also a 20 min ferry crossing which gets you to "Living Coasts",a marine wildlife Eco-park. You can be as busy,or as relaxed as you like! It really is a great place to visit,we hope you enjoy Brixham and staying in "White Sails".

Brixham,is one of the oldest fishing towns in England. It's history is legendary, from smuggling,to Berry Head's Napoleonic fort, which guarded the port and surrounding area from French armies 200 years ago. Berry Head is also home of the remains of an Iron Age hill fort and huge numbers of native and migrating birds, for more information go to

On a different note "White Sails" is a 1 min walk to Brixham's best CAMRA pub, with a large selection of real ales and ciders, and a great landlord,Chris, "The Queens Arms" is truly a proper local, and a quick pop in will probably help you out with where to go and what to do.

Sailing is a big thing in Brixham, from old fishing trawlers,to local yachts competing in local races/regattas,dinghy championships, all hosted by Brixham Yacht Club, which is a 5 min walk. Also there is RYA coaching/training base right on the seafront.

On the quay, really is a great place to watch Brixham, from watching people buy their fish,to fishermen building nets,to people booking a fishing trip or getting a boat to go and watch dolphins and other sea life. It's all great "people watching".

Have a great time in Brixham, and have a brilliant holiday.
