Seabird Cottage is a charming, traditional Fisherman's Cottage situated in the delightful fishing port of Brixham, our personal 'bolthole' escape. We love spending any free time here relaxing and 'getting away from it all' and wish to share this experience. The walks along the coast both towards Berry Head and towards Broadsands along the South Devon Coastal Path (Blackbeard's Trail) are not to be missed.

Our Cottage is the perfect place to base your holiday to enjoy the delights of South Devon, from the seaside walks, sailing and fishing to the boat trips, the trips on a steam train (Paignton/Dartmouth) or just relaxing in the harbour town's pubs,restaurants or tea/coffee shops or enjoying traditional fish and chips. Explore the winding streets and numerous 'steps' linking the streets and areas of the old fishing village.

The busy harbour is the home of the Brixham Sailing Trawler fleet, some preserved in the Heritage Fleet, and is still a bustling fishing port. Brixham was the creator of the trawler style of fishing and the sailing fleet numbered some 300 boats mainly built in Brixham itself. Trips are available on three of these lovingly preserved boats.

Seabird Cottage has been recently modernised retaining many traditional features including exposed beams believed to be reclaimed ships timbers and masts.

Enter from the street through a 'stable' door (also known locally as a Nosey door!!!!) into a homely Sitting Room, with wood

burner, through to a bright and airy fully fitted kitchen.

The fridge has a freezer compartment adequate for a weekend stay. Shops and supermarkets are minutes away

The bathroom, consisting of toilet, wash hand basin and large shower, is also situated on this level

Access to the furnished outside terrace, through the rear 'stable door', to enjoy a glass of wine or an al fresco meal, is also from the ground level.

There are two good sized bedrooms accessed by the winding 'traditional Brixham' staircase, a double bed to the front and twins in the rear bedroom overlooking the terrace garden.

Seabird Cottage benefits from full gas central throughout.

Seabird Cottage is ideally situated in one of the many quaint narrow streets and is just minutes from Brixham town centre, easy walking distance to many pubs, restaurants, shops and the harbour.

Parking (free) is available in nearby streets although a short walk, and sometimes a steep climb back up Brixham's famous Steps (with fantastic views over the harbour) may be necessary. A discounted weekly parking pass can be purchased from the Torbay Information Centre in the town (Hob Nobs on the Quay) or on line (see below) prior to your arrival.

The 26" TV has Freeview+ so you will not miss any of your favourite programmes

All bedding and towels are included in the quoted price and a change of linen/towels is provided for stays of over a week or more

Price quoted is to rent the cottage with a party of up to 4 persons.

NB Bank Holidays are charged at the appropriate weekend rate

NB This is a self catering property and whilst you are welcome to cook your own meals we cannot accept the use of deep fat fryers or slow cookers. Cooking of meals must be attended at all times

"There is no Washing Machine provided, (but who wants to wash clothes whilst on holiday???!!!)'

There are laundrettes in the town for those emergencies!

Central Heating will be provided from October to March at a level according to ambient temperatures.

Fuel for the wood burner is to be purchased by the guest.

As household waste disposable is a problem in Brixham, especially for short breaks, please dispose of your waste on a daily basis or take with you on departure. £25 of your key/breakages deposit may be deducted if waste is left at the property.

CHILDREN

Children are accepted but due to the 'Brixham Stairs' the 'traditional steps' to the garden and the compact size of the cottage probable suitable for older children over 10

PET POLICY

As we are dog owners ourselves, we understand you wanting to bring your pets on holiday with you, especially as Brixham has so many wonderfully walks to explore

We will accept 1 full sized dog (or 2 smaller breeds) by prior arrangement. We ask that you do not allow them on furniture, upstairs or un-supervised in the garden.

Dogs must not be left unsupervised in the cottage.

We do not charge extra for dogs, so in return we ask you to ensure that we don't have any extra cleaning to do after your stay!

"Just perfect!"

I stayed in seabird cottage recently with my boyfriend and my parents. As soon as i entered the property i felt at home, Its so welcoming and comfortable,the decor is stylish and modern, without feeling sterile. Most importantly, the cottage is spotlessly clean.! Its the perfect size for a small family or a couple. The kitchen has enough pots and pans to cook everyday meals, the only thing we would suggest taking is a block of knives. The garden is lovely and is a real sun trap! It has an excellent location, just a 1min walk to town. We loved the cottage to bits and would stay again without hesitation. Massive thanks to Dave and Clare for making our time in Brixham so enjoyable :-)

"A delightful cottage with lovely furnishings, in a quaint area just above the harbour."

The cottage was immaculate and beautifully furnished with care and attention. The garden was very pleasing, with sunny aspects. The situation of the cottage just above the harbour in an area full of character was delightful. We very much enjoyed our stay there.

"unique, cosy and charming"

We thoroughly enjoyed our break away at Seabird Cottage. It is a tiny little cottage best suited for family or very close friends to stay at. It has been beautifully done up and is a well thought out space.

It is well set up. The only thing is if you are an enthusiastic chef you may wish to bring your favourite basic cooking kit. The kitchen however is set up for visitors to prepare and make basic meals.

The cottage has the most wonderful outdoor space, it is an all day sun trap.

Perfectly located with a short walk to town and a very nice new bar/pub just a few doors up.

We will definitely plan to re-visit.
