The English Riviera region
South Devon is the perfect place for any holiday. Offering both activities and relaxation. It is suitable for cosy couples or family fun, the South coast simply has it all.
Surrounded by many pretty villages like Cockington near Torquay, beautiful beaches such as Blackpool Sands near Dartmouth, breath taking cliffs such as Berryhead and Sharkham point and rolling moors of Dartmoor to name but a few attractions it's no wonder South Devon has earned the title as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Whatever your age and whatever the weather South Devon is the perfect place for a truly memorable holiday. The towns of Torbay, Dartmouth,Teignbridge and The South Hams provide an excellent base for you to explore and discover South Devon and enjoy the sights and attractions, stunning walks and scenery, amazing local food and drink and blue flag beaches that you'll find on offer.
Brixham is a quaint fishing town and with colourful houses lining the harbour. It has many cafés, bars, shops and restaurants, including the fish restaurants serving the daily fresh local fish. While fishing is Brixham's main industry, it is also able to provide plenty for the tourist , with plenty ofl food shops such as the Brixham Deli and the Westcountry Deli, cafés such as Millie & Me, and bar's such as the Old Market House on the harbour. The harbour has a great continental feel, especially in the summer, when you can sit outside and enjoy fish which has been caught that very morning.
The Golden Hind replica sits in the inner harbour and combined with the 500 berth marina and Breakwater, make Brixham a boat lovers paradise. You can learn about the town's maritime history in the Heritage Museum or simply watch the numerous boats coming and going. Brixham has one of the largest working fishing ports in the country, adding to the nautical activity.
There is much more to see and do in Brixham, including the seawater swimming pool at Shoalstone, woodland walks at Churston, and the Napoleonic Fort and Country Park at Berry Head. This nature reserve forms part of the South West Coast Path with stunning views along the coastline.

"In a word, fantastic! Great location, amazing facilities, everything you could possibly want."
We would highly recommend Seldom Seen. We had a fantastic few days here, Brixham is lovely and the accommodation was perfect. It's central, but still quiet and tucked away, very spacious, everything you need and more.
This is a great base to enable you to visit Torquay, Paignton and Dartmouth but Brixham itself is lovely too, and the views from the apartment are fantastic - sea and harbour views, what more could you ask for! The inclusion of wifi and Now tv are great additions for those unable to go out at night (we have a 2 year old so evenings were spent in!). Would recommend a walk around the harbour in the evening to really soak up the atmosphere.
We will definitely be booking again and would highly recommend.
Many thanks and it was lovely to meet you. I hope we will meet again soon.

"White fluffy towels and very friendly welcome"
We visited Seldom Seen for the first weekend in February half term, we needed to get away and were hoping to escape some of the grey rain and floods we'd been experiencing. We last came here 15 years ago and have very fond memories of the town.
We met the owner at the sweet shop Bon Bon in Brixham- Rachel was so welcoming and walked us up to the apartment and showed us around. The children were completely won over by the goodie bags left for them (and I was quite happy with the box of fudge!)
The apartment is immaculate with crisp white sheets and fluffy towels. Little touches like a pint of milk in the fridge and tea and (proper) coffee available were very welcomed. It also had lots of facilities, washing machine, hairdryer and WiFi! So many cottages do not even have soap in the handbasins (handwash in each all three-fab!). Nothing was forgotten.
The apartment is a very short walk up some steps from Brixham centre. The view is across to the fish market and Crab Quay restaurant (we ate there and can recommend the food) with the sea view above. Lovely views of the fishing boats coming and going. The location is perfect spot for strolling around town, we walked to Breakwater beach and then on the south west coast path to Elberry Cove and back to Brixham through Churston, on the way we saw a seal- the children were amazed!
The weather held up for us to but on the drizzly day we sat in the coziness of the lounge and watched a film in front of the (electric but very realistic) fire.....
Will definitely visit again.
So pleased that you had such a lovely time. We will hopefully look forward to seeing you again in the future!
