The West Country / Devon region

Brixham rightly holds its place in the English Riviera whilst maintaining an identity distinct from its busier neighbours - Paignton and Torquay. Its location provides the visitor with easy access and therefore makes it an ideal base for further travel.
Nearby Churston - a mile or so - features a golf course, 18 hole pitch and putt, go-karting and a well stocked farm shop plus the adjacent beach at Broadsands with its ample parking. Only two miles takes you to the Kingswear ferries to Dartmouth. A glance at the map shows how easily accessible is the rest of Devon and, of course, Dartmoor which needs no description.
The Brixham area
.A natural harbour at the favoured southern end of Torbay and populated for over a thousand years, Brixham is now the UK's busiest fishing port whilst losing none of its local vigour and picturesque charm. The local theatre flourishes and events abound particularly in the Summer. Local shops cover a wide spectrum including all you need for self catering. Eating out, you are spoilt for choice - everything from seafood stalls and traditional fish and chips to delightful harbour-side restaurants serving the freshest fish imaginable.
Boat trips abound and the marina provides a popular base for scuba divers. Families love the Shoalstone open air sea pool. If you want to fish yourself there is everything from crab lines in the harbour to shore fishing from the breakwater and boats for mackerel, wrecks and reefs. Or you may just want to gaze, for the views from the harbour and beyond are spectacular. Brixham is a delight.

Estiva House was the perfect house for our stay in Brixham. The property had all the facilities we required but more than this the attention to detail in the decor was second to none and made us feel that we were staying somewhere a little more luxurious as the owners had clearly put the effort into creating a property which retained the features of a typical Victorian home. More than this, the location was perfect as we were only minutes from the high street and the harbour and wouldn't hesitate in recommending the property to other people. |

A perfect base to explore Devon, Estiva House was beautifully appointed and comfortable far more than we would expect from a holiday rental. We really didn't want to leave. Thank you so much Margaret - Oxford March 2012
