Le Studio has been sympathetically restored and furnished to a high standard, blending contemporary with traditional features. Le Studio is a comfortable, light and airy first-floor apartment (25M2) in a recently converted charentaise barn. Le Studio is well-equipped and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Le Studio has a large living area, a well-equipped kitchen, a double bed and a separate shower room/toilet. Le Studio benefits from having mosquito blinds at its 'bedroom' window. It also benefits from having an extensive private patio which is furnished and has a BARBQ for dining alfresco. The apartment enjoys shared use of a large, floodlit swimming pool, table-tennis table, badminton court, boule court and gym. Le Studio enjoys fast, free WiFi throughout and even on its patio. Le Studio is not suitable for children.
We are minutes away from a superb choice of local restaurants and some thirty minutes' drive from the superb beaches of the Cote Sauvage. There is a mouth-watering choice of places to visit locally (the beautiful beaches of the Cote Sauvage, Royan, La Rochelle, Cognac, Pons, Saintes, Angouleme, Bordeaux, La Palmyre Zoo and sleepy villages) and a host of activities, including walking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, horse-riding, golf, tennis, swimming and surfing. You can enjoy a relaxing walk or cycle ride to the nearby villages for your breakfast croissants or bread.

All properties are cleaned on a weekly basis with all linen and towels provided (see Booking Form). We do not supply beach/swimming pool towels.
Le Studio is a first floor apartment in a barn - it is not suitable for children or the infirm.
Conditions
Gites de Brives benefit from having resident owners, Phil and Glyn Silvester, who look forward to meeting new friends (and old ones!).
Strictly no pets or smoking (indoor).
Prices are in euros per week. We can accept payment by bank transfer or cheque in euros or sterling (at the prevailing rate of exchange) - see our Booking Form for more details. We require a 25% non-reundable deposit to secure the booking and the balance is payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. When the balance is paid a 200 euro cash deposit is payable (to cover the cost of any damage/breakages during your stay). This will be refunded within 2 weeks of departure, subject to any deductions.
We are able to negotiate discounts for winter lets, large group bookings and reductions for stays of more than 2 weeks. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Larger Groups or Organisations:
We have experience of providing corporate hospitality and can arrange bespoke weeks focusing on team-building, leadership training, wine/cognac/pineau tasting, relaxation, yoga and pilates, local walks, French, painting or cycling (etc!) - especially in the quieter months.
If what we can offer appeals to you or your organisation - please contact us to discuss your individual requirements. We can accommodate up to 30 people at any one time in our B&B and luxury gites.

The Charente Maritime enjoys fantastic weather! The Charente Maritime is the second sunniest region of France, after the Mediterranean; we enjoy a quite superb micro-climate. We also have short but cold winters - so we have the best of both worlds!

The Brives-sur-Charente area
For families, Cognac has a huge open air swimming pool and play park. The surrounding area has a great deal to offer from the buzzing town of Cognac (lots of cafes and boutique shops, not forgetting the world-famous distillery tours - Hennessy, Otard, Remy-Martin, Martell, Camus and - in Jarnac - Courvoisier) or try a visit to a more local, intimate distillerie, to the beautiful ancient towns of Pons and Saintes. Weekly local markets are held in Cognac, Pons and Saintes. There are a multitude of local restaurants and bars all within an easy drive. Some are (luckily!) only about 15 minutes by bike. Canoes can be hired at nearby Dompierre, Cognac and Pons. The Chateau des Enigmes near Pons and the Paleosite (near Saintes) make wonderful days out for children. Adults may prefer a trip to the beautiful village of Aubeterre sur Dronne (now officially recognised as one of France's prettiest villages) or Oradour sur Glane to visit the World War II martyrs' village and memorial.
The beautiful beaches of St George-de-Didonne and St Palais-sur-Mer are a 30 minute drive way and La Palmyre Zoo (one of the biggest zoos in Europe with over 1600 animals to delight all the family) is about an hour's drive. There is plenty to do for the whole family.
It is lovely being able to shop at the local food markets in Pons, Cognac or Saintes which are exceptionally good. The produce is fabulously fresh,the selection of locally caught fish is outstanding and the cheeses are simply delicious. Every town and village hosts a Brocante throughout the summer - these are an enjoyable mixture of car boot sales and local, village fairs where you can pick up a bargain, buy local produce and eat alfresco!
There are also many marvellous marked walks and cycleways commencing at Brives sur Charente and our surrounding villages (see the maps and guidebooks in the gites).

We are 12 mins from Cognac and 12 mins from Pons - with Saintes 20 minutes away.
Getting to Brives sur Charente is easy - exit the A10 at junction 36 (Pons). We are 4-5 hrs drive from St Malo and Caen; 6 hrs from Cherbourg, Le Havre and Roscoff; 7 hrs drive from the Tunnel, Calais and Boulogne (Brittany Ferries & LD Lines offer good services).
You will enjoy using your car while you are here because there is so much to see and do!
Train: TGV (Paris to Angouleme or Saintes, 2.5 hours -ish). Connexion to Cognac (local station).
Local Airports: Angouleme 30 mins, La Rochelle 1 hr 10 mins, Bordeaux 1 hr 15 mins. It is also possible to fly to Nantes, Poitiers or Limoges but the airports are almost a two hour drive away. Try Ryanair, Easyjet, BA, Flybe, BMIBaby and Air France.
You can hire cars at all airports (Hertz, Avis, Holiday Autos, Europcar etc.) and in Cognac or Saintes.

Great venue, with easy access to beaches. Owners very helpful. Would be great for family holiday, due to the pool and several gites all in the site. Play area for the kids and lots of space for them to run around. Pool was beautifully clean and enough loungers for all. Great restaurant in Perignac called the Gourmandine - fantastic food. |
