I fell in love with this house and miniature woodland when I first met him but he needed some serious love and attention. So I spent a long time renovating him whilst aiming to keep the original feeling and character of the place. The end result is quirky, original and totally unique thanks to a peppered mix of antiques, personal random treasures and beautiful vintage wallpapers.
On the ground floor you'll find a lovely sunny sitting room with an open fire, bespoke inlayed mirror work and a huge, comfy sofa. There is also a sofa bed ( sleeping two) and a single day bed with another single pull out trundle stored underneath.
The Rock'n'Roll kitchen features bespoke hand-carved peacock panel doors and a leopard print floor. There is also a snug bedroom stuffed with books and two large single antique French beds and a bathroom with power shower. Upstairs there are four more double bedrooms (3 with double beds and one with a king sized) and another bathroom.
The beautiful woodland garden features an 'English Faery Dell', complete with frogs and mirror balls, and there's a sheltered South facing terrace with tables and chairs, perfect for al fresco dining in the summer.
We have no off road parking; its inner city and the house is Georgian. Parking is residents only parking with meter parking as well. I will be able to supply a couple of parking permits and it will be free at weekends.
The House is tucked away a few minutes walk from the most happening place in the West Country. Bristol has a thriving music scene, great shops, galleries and restaurants and gorgeous architecture and the house is located in the heart of Bristol's buzzy Montpelier area, the old merchants' quarter. For foodies there's the award-winning Bell's Dinner, the cheap and cheerful multi award winning Thali Café, Bristol's favourite bakery Herbert's, veggie and vegan Cafe Kino and The Mela, a fantastic Indian takeaway all in a minute or twos walk. For nightlife there's the Croft, Hamilton House and Lakota, all on nearby hippedy hip Stokes Croft. There's a lovely vintage boutique a hand bag's throw away and a ten minute stroll will take you to Bristol's Gloucester Road with its many independent shops and cafes or down to the high-end Cabolt Circus. In twenty minutes you can reach the Harbourside or the Clifton areas.
Bristol is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful West Country, and Bath is half an hour drive away as is the seaside. An hour's drive will drive you to Glastonbury, the Cotswolds and Wales, and a couple of hours will get you to Stratford, Devon, Oxford and London.
The train from Temple Meads takes less than 10 minutes to get to Bath; stay on it and you will be in London in another hour and a half.
Whatever your plans I know my town and would love to help you organise your trip.

This house is one of a kind and was built in 1830. Little of its early history and purpose is known but it was rumoured to be used to manage the orchard and was here before its neighbours in farmland. It does have the feel of a farmhouse and is practical for its period being on two floors and not 4.

The Bristol region
Mellow fruitfulness and cider. Goddess teritory; beautiful country, myths and magic. Stone circles and crop circles
( Wiltshire). Romance in buildings and gardens. Historic and kind. A place to feed the belly and the soul often at the same time.Too many fesivals to mention.
Too many places to visit to mention.
Too many activities and attractions.

Bristol is famous for its arcitecture and culture. It is a generous easy going city that is a joy to amble around and easy to get to and from. We have it all here: a thriving independant music scene and the fabulous Colston Hall
( a ten minute walk away); great art galleries and a wealth of ground breaking artists ( and other people's wall painting artists!); and lots of culture ( historically bloody) for the vultures. We have circus ( the infamous invisible circus's residency at the old fire station is just down the road); and world famous theatre ( Bristol Old Vic is an easy 20 minute stroll); burlesque and Banksies. There is a festival for each weekend of the summer season and always something to discover around every corner in this neck of the woods. This area is the hip area of Bristol and if its happening in Bristol then you wont have to go far.

"The perfect place for a group getaway"
A group of 15 of us stayed at the house for a hen weekend and had an absolute blast. This is no ordinary rental - every room is completely individual and has its own story, we had great fun exploring. In practical terms, the house was perfect for us - plenty of room in the kitchen, living room and gorgeous (and surprisingly huge!) garden for us to congregate, and we had everything we needed in terms of glasses, cutlery, etc. Samantha is a total star. She was on hand to answer questions in the run-up to our stay, even recommending things for us to do and places to go. She really encouraged us to treat the house as our home, and was a complete pleasure to deal with. This is a gem of a house, and would be great for a quieter stay as well as a party weekend. I can't recommend it highly enough!

We had a great hen weekend the house was great for partying we particularly enjoyed the dressing up. Would highly recommend for a large group gathering and girls weekend. The chocolate and fizz were a nice welcome surprise and Samantha could not have done enough for us. On Samantha's recommendation we went to Cox and Baloney for afternoon tea and the Glass Boat for an evening meal both of which were fab. Great Stay thank you.

"Fantastic House. Highly recommended."
This is a beautiful quirky house, the owner is lovely and helps to accomodate your every need. Highly recommended. One small problem we had was with the parking (we had 5 cars between us and the roads are tight around the house). Travel by train if you can then this would be PERFECT!

"A Visit From Canada"
We came to Bristol because our daughter was getting married. We wanted an authentic old English style home experience. The House gave us exactly that but with all the amenities. We wanted a place where we could spend time as a family; we spent the evenings sitting around the fireplace and most of our evening meals sitting around the big kitchen table. The house was spacious and very comfortable. Our host Samantha, is a lovely lady who made us feel welcomed and made sure we had everything we needed. We will always remember our daughter's wedding and the home we stayed at with very fond memories!

The house is amazing, Samantha was the best hostess ever and we loved every moment of our stay! The house is also in a great location to explore Bristol but to be honest we had such a good time trying on all the quirky costumes that Samantha had. As a girly holiday this is the best place to stay!

I stayed at The House in September with a group of 4 other girls. We couldn't have asked for a better holiday home! The House was beautifully decorated, very unique and charming and quirky. I loved all of the rooms and the furniture, and Samantha's attention to detail. The kitchen is fully equipped and there are two bathrooms. There is a charming garden out the back and we were lucky enough to enjoy breakfast there in the sun. Samantha, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to deal with, and very generously gave us full use of her lovely home. She knows Bristol very well and gave us excellent recommendations for bars, restaurants and cafes. I have been telling all my friends about The House, and I can't wait to go back!

"Wonderful and Unique Bristol Experience!"
We booked this house for a large group, this was not a problem for Samantha! She was very happy to accommodate us all and was extremely welcoming. We stayed at the house following our wedding so we could have an enjoyable few days with friends all in one place! We arrived at the house to find that Samantha was waiting for us with a lovely bottle of Bubbly as a wedding gift! This was much to our surprise and we were truly greeted with warmth! She had set up the house for us ready to go and to our delight we found a totally unique and character filled home. It is truly a Bristol inspired house which gave our guest (many of them from overseas) a great welcome to what Bristol is really about. The beds were all super comfy and the house was more than stocked with everything we needed. Each room had individual qualities and there were many lovely and interesting items throughout which proved as a good talking point for us all! All in all a great experience and highly recommended!

"Fabulously eclectic cottage right in the heart of Bristol"
There aren't enough superlatives to even begin to describe Samantha's beautiful cottage in Bristol - it is luxurious, eclectic, romantic, fun... An absolutely lovely place to stay! The house itself is large, with three big bedrooms upstairs and another room used as a bedroom downstairs. The kitchen and living room areas are also really large, and the outside area houses a table and chairs, with a beautiful winding pathway down the garden. The decoration is incredible - vintage hats, playthings, costumes, and knick-knacks are everywhere and Samantha generously encourages you to play with everything and try it all on. I think we gave the old biddies a bit of a shock when we ventured to the pub across the road (£9 for a bottle of wine - bargain!) all dressed up! The location of the house is great, right in the middle of Montpelier, and only a short walk down into the heart of Bristol. There are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby, and a corner store a minute down the road. It was a £7 taxi ride in from Bristol Temple Meads station, or you could transfer to Montpelier station and walk. Everything was spotlessly clean with everything you'd need. We were there on a girlie weekend and it was fabulous, but it would be equally great for longer - none of us wanted to leave! I'm really so happy we found this cottage - it absolutely made our trip to Bristol.

"Quirky & Fun, everything you need under one roof!"
The house is filled with quirky, eccentric and exciting decorations. We stayed for a hen-do and there was plenty of room to accommodate all of us. There is a beautiful outside garden where we spent majority of our time BBQ-ing & drinking. It's central enough to anywhere in the city-- we went to the harbourside for dinner in a 5 minute taxi ride and during the day could walk to Gloucester Road where there are loads of cafes, restaurants and vintage shops. All in all it was a great house, wonderful host and fantastic weekend-- I would stay here again.
Thanks Paige it was wonderful to have you all here to experience some glorious sunshine on the terrace and to enjoy the house and garden. The house is about to have another onion layer of decorating; your welcome back to play any time.
