About this location
The Bristol region
Paintworks is an exciting and lively place to stay in whilst you are in Bristol. Situated in Brislington and alongside the River Avon it's a vibrant area full of live/work spaces, film companies, digital agencies, artists and design studios.
There's also a great bar and pizza restaurant and a fantastic American style Airstream Diner who (in our opinion) do the best BLTs in town. The event space opposite hosts regular art fairs, food festivals and lots of other events open to the public across the year.
If it's a quite tranquil walk you are after then just a 5 minute skip and a hop from Paintworks is the truly beautiful Arnos Vale, a 45 acre haven of peace and quiet right in the middle of the city. Or in the opposite direction, take a walk over one of Brunel's first test bridges and along the River Avon Cycle Path which (for the more ambitious) takes you straight to Bath!

"A warm welcome with a homely feel! I would highly recommend."
We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience while staying here with family. that came over for my cousins wedding in Paintworks, last September. I liked the idea of staying here, even though I only live … More

I am very sorry to have received a one star review from our guest.
Not good at all.
The guest was very disappointed and angry when she checked into our standard Apartment at Paintworks, stating that she had booked the "The Loft" (our deluxe apartment, just opposite) and "we had categorically put her in the wrong apartment".
Apartment 421 is still a very nice loft style apartment but of course we could totally understand at how disappointed and let down the guest felt if we had in fact double booked her or got our bookings mixed up.
Needless to say I was very confused at how this apparent mix up could have occurred. This had never happened before. The Loft had been booked since July so I couldn't see how it had gone so wrong.
On closer inspection of the guests booking confirmation and after a lengthy conversation with the client service team at Booking.com (I was on hold for an hour, guess they were very busy as it was 26th Dec) it was clear that the guest had actually booked Apartment 421 and that her booking was correct. Booking.com simply claimed that this was just an unfortunate case of "user error".
I very much want everybody who stays at Paintworks Apartments to have an enjoyable experience and leave feeling that they've had a great stay. So, I phoned Booking.com again and suggested that we both made the guest "an offer", as as a gesture of goodwill in an attempt to try and restore the guests faith in us and Booking.com (even though, again it really wasn't either of our faults).
The guest accepted significant compensation from Booking.com (which she told me she was very happy with) and alongside me dashing out buy wine, nibbles and food, we invited her back to stay with us, this time in The Loft, at a much reduced rate at a time that suited her in the not too distant future.
The guest hasn't taken us up on our offer.
After all our efforts I am a bit disappointed to receive such a poor review.
I hope any future guest reading this will take the time to look at our other reviews for Apartment 421 and The Loft and make up their own minds whether a one star rating from this guest is fair and appropriate.

"Excellent loft style apartment close to town"
Welcomed at the apartment by Joe who is really helpful.
The apartment is kept spotless and is very well furnished in a contemporary style. A good supply of tea/coffee/orange juice/milk and breakfast cereals were supplied free. There is an excellent restaurant / bar in the Paintworks complex (Bocabar) which serves great pizzas and has live jazz some evenings. There is also an Airstream Bus which serves breakfasts / light lunches, but sadly not at weekends.
The apartment is outside of the town centre but it is only a 15 minute walk away and there is good regular public transport.
We will stay again.
