Home description
The Agriturismo Pedrosola is located on a ridge of the Apennines, at the edge of the ancient way that connects Florence to Ravenna and goes through Faenza. It offers a resting place in green and harmonious surroundings near the Lamone River and a few kilometers from the ancient medieval town of Brisighella. The first references to the habitable structures go back to the 1300s, and explains the peculiar tower shape.
The farm offers two-roomed flat with kitchenette and free access directly in the garden. It's obtained from the restoration of the old hayloft. Rooms are available in the agriturismo - please enquiry. The main activity by the owners of Pedrosola is beekeeping so you can taste organic honey and jams from the farm at breakfast. We also serve food in the agriturismo restaurant and the food features typical local cuisine using either food products of the farm or purchased from suppliers that use environmentally friendly methods of production.
The location of the farm makes it easy to reach places such as Brisighella, Florence, Bologna, Ravenna, Ferrara, the Adriatic Coast and the MIRABILANDIA amusement park that is designed for children and adults.

The Emilia Romagna region
RAVENNA Once situated on the Adriatic coast, Ravenna now lies 12 km. away, though linked to the sea by a navigable canal, on the plain between the Lamone and Uniti Rivers, to the south of the Comacchio Valleys, 4 m. above sea level.
Founded according to Strabo by the Thessalians on some small isles which later sank, under Roman domination, it grew in importance as a port, commercial and military centre; in 409 AD. Honorius made it the seat of the Empire. At the fall of the Empire, Ravenna became the capital of the Goths and then of the Byzantines, enjoying a period of great prosperity under the latter (6th-8th century).
After brief Lombard and Frankish domination, it passed to the Popes and then to the German Emperors. In the period of the comuni the Signoria of the Da Polentas became important; about the middle of the 15th century, it fell to Venice, which at the beginning of the 16th century gave it to the Pope.
Monuments: Basilica di San Vitale (Palaeochristian, 6th century), Mausoleo di Galla Placidia (5th century), Battistero Neo niano (5th century baptistry), Sant'Apollinare Nuovo (6th century, Aryan church erected by Theodoric, King of the Goths, later reconsacrated as a Catholic church), San Giovanni Evangelista (5th century), Battistero degli Ariani (5th-6th century baptistry), Chiesa di San Francesco (10th century), Sepolcro di Dante (18th century, the poet died in exile in Ravenna after a stay of four years with the Da Polenta family), Palazzo degli
Esarchi (8th century); 4 km away is Sant'Apollinare in Classe (6th century), Byzantine mosaics); 2 km away is the Mausoleo di Teodorico (6th century, Theodoric's mausoleum). Apart from traditional agricultural activities, the city's economy is based on an industrial sector which underwent radical development following the discovery of natural gas to the north of the inhabited area in the early 1950's. This stimulated the petrochemical (large refineries) and chemical (fertilizers, plastics) industries, which joined the existing textile and food sectors. Ravenna is also an important commercial junction, based on a busy trading port.
Events: Dantesque performances (14th September), `Ravenna Jazz' at the Rocca Brancaleone (summer), Festival of organ music and ballet (summer).
Famous People: San Pier Damiani (doctor of the Church, 1007-1072), Giuseppe Pasolini (politician, 1815-1876), Pellegrino Matteucci (explorer, 1850-1881).
Cultural Institutions: Museo Nazionale and Museo Arcivescovile (museums), Pinacoteca Comunale (art gallery), Museo Dantesco (Dante museum), Biblioteca Oriani (library), Accademia di Belle Arti (academy of fine arts), Scuola di Mosaico (school of mosaics).
In the Province: Faenza (ceramic production, Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche, Museo Torricelliano), Lugo (Museo Baracca), Cervia (seaside resort) and Brisighella.

All these activities are within easy reach of the farm.
Brisighella is an important spa centre in the lower Lamone valley. It still retains the charm of its medieval origins nestled in the surrounding countryside which still seems unspoilt. This is the ideal place for a relaxing therapeutic break, the waters are particularly good for those with respiratory problems. For those who want peace and quiet Brisighella with its old medieval buildings and the ancient porticoes of the Via del Borgo. Those who love trekking can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Parco Carnè which is also the starting point for excursions to the Chalk Seam or Tannacia Grotto or for a walk among the Apennine flora and fauna. Every year in June and July the village is home to medieval festivals which transport it back to its ancient roots. A wide range of cultural events and tourist attractions are organised throughout the year.
Brisighella uses SITA coach service from Faenza to Floence and the coach service from Faenza to Fognano. Distance: Ravenna 44 Km., sea 60 Km., Bologna 60 Km., Florence 88 Km.
Throughout the year, numerous events are held here. Many of them are inspired by popular tradition and are linked primarily to local specialities. These include festivals celebrating forgotten fruits, held in Casola in October, the Volpina pear and the delights of pork, as well as those in honour of truffles, in Brisighella (in November), and local shallots, in Riolo Terme (in July). Hundreds of other local events praise the delights of wild boar, polenta, sage, olives and sheep and goat produce. During the summer, there are also numerous cultural events as well as those linked to the area’s historical past. Of these, the Medieval Festivals held in Brisighella at the end of June/beginning of July are particularly popular.
