Built upon a natural terrace and within a perimeter of gently rolling hills, vineyards and fragrant woods are located the three guest houses, recently renovated but still keeping to the authenticity of the typical architecture of the Romagnola countryside. The Emilia Romagna region
The name Emilia-Romagna has roots in the Ancient Rome legacy in these lands. Emilia refers to via Emilia, an important Roman way connecting Rome to the northern part of Italy. Romagna is a corruption of Romània; when Ravenna was the capital of the Italian portion of the Byzantine Empire, the Lombards extended the official name of the Empire to the lands around Ravenna. Emilia Romagna cover a large stretch of territory from the Adriatic Sea to almost the opposite side of the country. There is a wealth of precious works of art in this region from the magnificent Byzantine mosaics in Ravenna, wonderful Romanesque churches in Modena and Parma , to Renaissance art and architecture in Ferrara and Bologna. The beaches of Rimini, Cervia, Cesenatico are famous and popular, but the Valli di Comacchio and the Po delta have a particular interest to the naturalist. Trekking. The Appennini offer a rare natural frame as well as a various naturalist heritage of fauna, flora and geological outcrops that make this area one of the most scenically heterogeneous in the Emilia Romagna region. Last but not least the region is famous for its food and wine. Starting with the Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, endless varieties of salami, tortellini, ravioli and many other pastas.
Brisighella area
Brisighella is an ancient mediaeval town and spa centre at the foot of three pinnacles of chalk on which stand the fortress Rocca Manfrediana, the Clock Tower and the Monticino Sanctuary. The village consists of a labyrinth of ancient alleys, stretches of the wall that once surrounded it, and stairways carved out of the chalk, Famous for its highly unusual architecture it is knows as “ Via degli Asini” (Donkey Road) because it offered shelter for the animals of the carters who lived there. There are many religious buildings, Tho Parish Church build around the fifth century and rebuild in an extended form between the 11th and 12th century at the eighth mile of the ancient Roman road that ran from Faenza to Tuscany. There are numerous tourist and cultural events where you can get to know local products or see and hear the best of jazz and modern dance. Every year between June and July the town is enlivened by the Mediaeval Festival: through ancient evocation you can relive a world of dream and fairytale, animated by knights and ladies love, duels and poisons. Just a few kilometres away you can immerse yourself in the beauties of Carnè Park and the Tanaccia Cave or discover the natural marvels of the Chalk Vein. Local cuisine: Visitors can taste examples of medieval cuisine, including zuppa di farro, baked peacock and wild boar. Also quite unique is minestra ripiena alla brisighellese, filled pasta squares cooked in broth. Tagliatelle with hare sauce, tortelloni with truffles (the small marzuoli variety), ham, salami and other salted meats, as well as cheese all contribute to an interesting and flavourful cuisine. Purchases and souvenirs: the area is rich with various types of crafts and one can find traditional faience ceramics, classic and antique embroidery, wrought iron, wood sculptures, and even shoemakers who still produce antique styles. How to get there
From Autostrada A14 exit at Faenza. Follow the signs for Bisighella and Faenza. Upon entering Brisighella follow the directions to the left for TERME and MODIGLIANA. Pass the thermal spa Lo Stabilmento Termale. After 1 km (6/10 of a mile) you have reached Il Palazzo. We are the 4th house on the left.
